IIFT exam has been conducted at multiple exam centres in various cities across India until 2023. In 2024, the institute did not conduct the exam and selected candidates on the basis of CAT score. For 2025, the institute may or may not conduct the entrance exam. This information will be shared once the IIFT 2025 application dates are announced.
For the entrance test, the IIFT exam centres are allotted to aspirants based on their choice of test city. Candidates can select the city of their choice while filling the IIFT application form. The total number of cities for IIFT exam were 68 in 2023.
The IIFT 2025 registration cum application process for admission is likely to start in the first week of October 2024 and end by the last week of November 2024.
Q: Who can apply for IIFT exam?
IIFT is a PG entrance exam thus the minimum qualification required is graduation. Check below the eligibility criteria:
- Any candidate who has completed graduation with minimum 50 per cent aggregate or equivalent (45 per cent for SC/ST candidates)
- Any candidate who is in the final year of graduation, can also apply for IIFT exam.
- Any candidate having other professional PG degrees can also apply for IIFT entrance exam.
- Apart from fulfilling the academic criteria, candidates also have to fulfill the entrance exam criteria which is CAT exam. For the batch of 2024-26, IIFT accepted CAT 2023 score for shortlisting candidates.
Q: What are the documents required for IIFT application form filling?
Candidates have to upload the following documents with the IIFT application form:
- Recent passport-size photo against light colour background
- The photo should not be more than 3 months’ old
- Scanned signature with a black pen on a white background
- Category certificate (SC/ST/PwD certificate if applicable)
- Photo ID issued by the Government of India
Apart from uploading these documents, candidates will need certain other document to fill the IIFT application form without errors. Candidates must keep by their side, class 10 mark sheet, class 12 mark sheet, graduation mark sheet, address proof, date of birth certificate and net banking details.
Q: What is the timing of IIFT exam?
IIFT exam is conducted for two hours from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM. The timing has been the same for the exam over the last five years. There will be no break during the exam and candidates will have to complete the test in one go. The test will have 110 questions from Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. Candidates can divide 120 minutes between these four sections according to their own strategy. They should attempt General Awareness at the end as it is memory based and will take not more than 10-15 minutes.
How to Select IIFT Exam City in Application Form
IIFT exam aspirants can select test cities with utmost care as change of city is not permitted after submission of the form. Given below are the steps to follow while selecting IIFT test cities.
- Register for IIFT exam on the NTA website
- Go to application form and fill all the mandatory fields
- Go to test city section on the form
- Select four cities from the list in order of preference from one to three
- Fill the remaining sections of the application form
- Make payment of application fees via net banking/credit or debit card

The IIFT entrance exam is conducted in about 63 cities across India. Candidates can select up to four cities in the application for test centre allotment. The IIFT test centre will be allotted to every candidate in the first city of preference. Q: Can I change my exam centre after the IIFT admit card has been released?
No, the candidates cannot change their exam centres after the IIFT admit card has been released. They cannot appear for the exam at any other test centre other than the one mentioned on their admit card either. If they try to do so, they will be disqualified. So, candidates should download the admit card as soon as it is released and check the exam centre location. They must make prior arrangements of travel and reaching exam centre on time on the exam day.
When filling the IIFT application form, they must take utmost care in choosing test city preferences. They must choose their city of residence as the first option so that they are alloted a test centre in the same city. Filling the IIFT application form at the earliest will put them in a better position of getting the centre in the test city of their choice.
Q: Can I show a digital copy of IIFT admit card at the exam centre?
No, only original print out of the IIFT admit card is accepted as valid ID proof at the exam centre. The IIFT admit card has to be signed by the student and signed/stamped by the test authorities at the exam centre, which is not possible with the digital copy of the admit card. That is why it is not accepted at the IIFT exam centre for identification process. The candidates must carry two copies of their IIFT admit card, two passport size photos, a ball pen (blue or black) and original copy of the photo ID card.

Q: Will I get to know address of my exam centre at the time of filing IIFT form?
The address of exam centre will not be mentioned on the IIFT application form. It will be mentioned on the candidate’s IIFT admit card. Candidates must check the location and address of their test centre at least a day before the exam to ensure they know the total time taken and distance between their home and exam centre as they have to reach the test centre as per the reporting time mentioned in the IIFT admit card. Candidates will have to make their own arrangement to reach the allotted exam centre on time. If they reach the exam centre after the gates have been closed, then you will not be allowed to enter.
Q: Which documents to be carried to the IIFT exam centre?
At the IIFT examination centre, the test agency staff conducts identification of every candidate with valid registration for the exam. No person other than the staff and registered candidates is allowed to enter the test centre premises. To authenticate the identification of the candidates, the exam authorities seek documents issued by the government of India. PwD candidates have to carry additional document as mentioned below. Candidates are required to carry the following documents on the IIFT exam day:
- Two copies of IIFT admit card
- Photo ID proof such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID card, Passport, Driving License
- PwD certificate (if applicable)
- Medical certificate (if applicable)
- Scribe certificate (if applicable)
Q: What is the reporting time for students at IIFT exam centre?
The candidates are supposed to report to the IIFT exam centre by 8:00 AM as the exam will start at 10:00 AM. The entry gates will close 30 minutes before commencement of exam and no entry will be allowed any under circumstances after that. The duration of IIFT exam will be 2 hours and candidates will be allowed to leave the test centre only after 12:00 PM.
Candidates are required to reach their test centers as per the reporting time so that the identification process for all candidates is completed on time. Entry of a large number of test takers takes time.
Dos and Don’ts at IIFT Exam Centre
At the IIFT exam centre, the candidates will have to go through elaborate identification process including verification of ID, admit card and frisking. Given below are some dos and don’ts at the IIFT exam centre.
Dos
- Carry two copies of IIFT admit card, photo ID and a passport size photo to the exam centre
- PwD candidates must carry medical and scribe certificates to avail scribe service
- Reach the exam centre by the reporting time for smooth proceeding of identification process
- Cooperate with the security staff at the time of examination and invigilator during the exam
Don’ts
- Do not wear closed shoes, jackets, trousers with pockets and metal accessories to the exam centre
- Do not carry mobile phone or any electronic gadget to the exam centre
- Do not carry food items or any type of beverage inside the exam centre
- Do not carry bags or valuables to the exam centre. No facility will be provided by the exam authority for them
- Do not reach late to the IIFT exam centre. Gates will be closed at 9:30 AM

Q: What is the role of NTA in IIFT entrance exam?
The National Testing Agency or the NTA was the official agency for IIFT entrance exam. The NTA has been conducting the IIFT entrance exam on behalf of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trae Delhi since 2019. The NTA’s role in conducting the IIFT exam includes scheduling the exam, registration and application process, release of IIFT admit card, preparation and release of answer key, answer key objection and announcement of result. The syllabus and pattern is prescribed by the institute. NTA conducts the exam in over 60 cities across India in computer based test mode. Its role ends with announcement of the exam result, final answer key and date of number of applicants and test takers. It has no role in IIFT cut off determination or selection process for MBA admission at IIFT. However, since 2024, the IIFT does not conduct the entrance exam.
