National news is the mainstay of Current Affairs because in competitive exams, most of the questions have been asked from this section only. There are various sub-sections under which this section can be divided and prepared.

What is National Current Affairs?

The national news is the most important component for Current Affairs because most of the questions asked in the competitive exams are from the national news and the affiliated facts. The candidates should prepare the national current affairs more elaborately than any other section of the current affairs.

National current affairs include the events occurring in any part of the country having national ramifications. The actions of the Union government of India have ramifications across the nation and even sometimes at the international level. National news, as presented on various television channels, is not very relevant for the competitive exams. The candidates need to visit here or read the newspaper and various magazines to cover national events from all spheres.

The national news is the events that cover the first page of the newspapers and the headline, but for the competitive exam, the facts related to the events and background of the event are important. The candidates should prepare the historical, geographical, legal, economic and environmental background and impact of the event.

National Current Affairs is the backbone of current affairs because, with the help of these events, the candidates should prepare the related general knowledge facts so that they can answer the questions in the exams asking the facts and objective information.

Some of the important aspects of National Current Affairs are:

  • Acts Passed by the Parliament of India, including the recent bills presented in any of the House.
  • Important notifications released by the Government of India
  • Cabinet decisions on important matters
  • Various indexes released by the NITI Aayog
  • The rank of India in various indexes released by International Bodies
  • Important Supreme Court Decisions
  • First in India
  • Highest in India
  • Biggest in India
  • Smallest in India
  • National Calamities

Candidates need to prepare notes for the National current affairs because they are very useful at the time of revision. The candidate can revise the hand-written notes more quickly than any other content. The magazine and other study material are difficult to revise when there are a few days left for the exam. Second, it is easy to amend the hand-written notes with the changing times. The candidates can also write snippets in the notes to co-relate them with the facts or any other subject such History, Geography, Economy and the likes.

The candidates need to include tables and lists in their notes so that they can have a concise summary of facts in one place. They can revise it and remember the facts. Facts are important because they provide substance to the analysis required in the descriptive exams. The national current affairs are important for IAS Exam, UPSC CAPF Exam, SBI PO, SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC JE, SSC MTS, IBPS PO, NDA, CDS, MAT, CLAT, XAT and the likes.
