13 BTech students test COVID-19 positive at NIT Jamshedpur
All the students who have tested positive for COVID-19 are from BTech first-year batch. The offline classes for this batch have been postponed for the next three days, as per the orders released by the institute.
COVID-19 Is Not Over: Jharkhand is among those states that are witnessing a rise in the number of novel coronavirus cases again. The fast spread of Infection is being witnessed in Jamshedpur as the tally for active COVID-19 cases have gone above 70.
13 students from NIT Jamshedpur test COVID-positive
In Seraikela-Kharsawan the district adjacent to Jamshedpur, COVID-19 positive infections recorded a big jump on July 4 as 14 cases were reported including 13 students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur in Adityapur. Considering the safety of students and staff members, COVID-19 tests were conducted for a total of 100 students.
All the students who have tested positive for COVID-19 are from BTech first-year batch. The offline classes for this batch have been postponed for the next three days, as per the orders released by the institute.
The hostel warden has also instructed the students to wear masks and follow other COVID-19 guidelines, especially in the mess. According to reports, several students of the institute have also decided to return home.
Preparations to contain COVID-19 virus begin
NIT has commenced preparations to deal with any kind of emergency. All the arrangements including the ambulance of the institute have been put in order. As a precautionary measure to avoid further virus spread, students of Hostel One are also being shifted to other hostels. The institute has also decided to conduct a COVID-19 test for these students. After that, according to the situation, other decisions will also be taken if needed. This also includes the decision to seal the institute if the cases of novel coronavirus rise.
