The Delegation of the European Union to India organized an event for the departing Indian students to mark this milestone, which is a testimony to the growing people to people links and mobility between the EU and India.

174 Indian Students Get Erasmus Mundus Scholarships For Higher Studies In Europe

As many as 174 Indian students, over 50% of them women, have been awarded the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the degree programmes starting in the academic year 2023-24.

The Indian students who have received a scholarship for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) will soon be leaving for Europe for their higher studies.

Congratulating the students, H.E. Seppo Nurmi, Chargé d’ Affaires EU Delegation to India and Bhutan, said: “I am pleased to share that 174 Indian students have won the Erasmus scholarship this year, beating the figure of 161 Indian students from last year. Given how competitive the Erasmus programme is, this deserves a big applause. It highlights the growing people-to-people connect between the EU and India, which is an important pillar of our partnership.”

He added: “The Erasmus+ programme not only offers students state-of-the-art education opportunities and professional development but also allows them to gain rich cultural experience and a unique opportunity to explore Europe’s diversity. I wish all the students an enriching journey,” as reported by India Education Diary.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships: More Details

This is a fully-funded scholarship, hence, all costs including participation costs, travel costs and a living allowance of the recipient are covered. The selected Indian students of the Erasmus Mundus 2023-2025 batch will have the opportunity to study and conduct research in at least two universities located in different European countries and obtain joint, double or multiple degrees.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are high-level and integrated study programmes, at the master level. They are designed and delivered by an international partnership of higher education institutions (HEI). They involve at least three HEI from three different countries, of which at least two must be EU Member States and third countries associated with the Programme (previously called Programme Countries).

By supporting these jointly recognised Master's degrees, the EU aims at fostering excellence and internationalisation of the participating institutions. There are also scholarships for students to take part in these prestigious programmes; the masters themselves offer them to the best-ranked applicants worldwide.
