Students of of Hutatma Rajguru Vidyalaya complained of nausea and stomach ache after eating rice provided to them in mid-day meal.
A total of 57 students of Hutatma Rajguru Vidyalaya in Rajgurunagar, Pune, were hospitalised as they complained of nausea and stomach ache after consuming the mid-day meal. The students were taken to a hospital in Chandoli. Their condition is stable, hospital authorities said.
Officials said students ate rice after which they complained of nausea and stomach ache. They were immediately taken to the rural hospital in Chandoli and given immediate medical attention.
The police said the students who suffered from nausea and stomach ache were students of classes 5 to 7. They said, “It is suspected that the utensils used for cooking might not have been cleaned properly. We have started investigation into the case.”
Andhra Pradesh students to get ‘ragi java’ in mid-day meal
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has given its approval to the new menu for the mid-day meal. The new menu will be effective from March 2. The government decided to include ‘ragi java’ (finger millets gruel) in the meal, which will be served thrice a week. The aim to ensure that the children do not suffer from iron and calcium deficiencies.
