The MoU was formalized by the Committee on Career Counselling from ICAI and the Department of Skill Education from CBSE. This collaboration is set to provide students with specialized courses that align with industry requirements, enhancing their employability and career prospects.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to promote commerce-based skill courses for students across the country. This landmark partnership aims to foster cooperation between the two organizations, focusing on developing skills in the rapidly growing Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector.

The MoU was formalized by the Committee on Career Counselling from ICAI and the Department of Skill Education from CBSE. This collaboration is set to provide students with specialized courses that align with industry requirements, enhancing their employability and career prospects.

Focus on Skill Enhancement and Employability

The primary objective of this collaboration is to enhance the skills and employability of students through specialized courses in commerce. These courses will be designed to meet the demands of the BFSI sector, which continues to grow and offer new career opportunities.

Under this initiative, ICAI will provide expert input on course content, syllabus development, study materials, and training modules. Additionally, the institute will offer career guidance to students and contribute to enrichment activities such as workshops and training sessions organized by CBSE. These initiatives will focus on sensitizing both educators and students about the wide range of career opportunities in accountancy and related fields.

ICAI President’s Statement on the MoU

Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President of ICAI, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “The signing of this MoU with CBSE is a significant step towards enhancing the skill development ecosystem for students across the country. Through this collaboration, ICAI aims to promote commerce-based skill courses and ensure that students are equipped with relevant, industry-aligned competencies.”

He further emphasized that the partnership reflects ICAI’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and professional industry needs. Agarwal also highlighted that this collaboration will open new avenues for students to pursue rewarding careers in accountancy and finance.

Joint Awareness Programs for Schools

As part of this collaboration, ICAI and CBSE will jointly conduct awareness programs targeting school principals, teachers, and management teams of CBSE-affiliated schools across India. These programs will focus on the importance of commerce-based skill courses, specifically within the BFSI sector, and how they can contribute to students' career development.

Moreover, CBSE will organize capacity-building initiatives to train teachers of commerce-related subjects. These initiatives will equip educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively teach these new courses and help students maximize their potential.

ICAI’s Ongoing Commitment to Education and Skill Development

ICAI’s strategic collaborations with educational institutions extend beyond this MoU with CBSE. To date, the institute has signed 85 MoUs with a diverse range of universities, colleges, and educational organizations. These partnerships aim to foster academic excellence, research innovation, and knowledge exchange, ultimately contributing to the development of a highly skilled and educated workforce.
