A group of CA students has resorted to legal action, filing a petition in the Supreme Court seeking postponement. However, the Delhi High Court previously dismissed a similar petition.

Senior members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) have rallied behind the call from CA students to postpone exams, allowing them the opportunity to participate in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Financial and Tax Advisor Renuka Jain urged the Prime Minister and ICAI to consider the students' demand, highlighting the importance of Chartered Accountants in choosing good leaders. Meanwhile, another member, Anurag Garg, acknowledged logistical challenges but advocated for a one-week postponement.

Concerns have been raised nationwide by students regarding the overlap between exams and elections, citing it as an infringement upon their constitutional right to vote. One student emphasized, "ICAI doesn't care about 2 lac+ students' constitutional right...every single student has the right to vote." Another echoed similar sentiment, expressing doubts about students' ability to prioritize voting amidst exam stress.

Another member of the ICAI, Anurag Garg says: β€œI understood from ICAI that out of 4 lakhs students only 10k wanted to postpone exams. Huge logistics arrangements to be done for exams. Still it will be better if exams are postponed by 1 week.”

Despite numerous appeals from students and members alike, the ICAI has stood firm on the exam schedule. A group of CA students has resorted to legal action, filing a petition in the Supreme Court seeking postponement. However, the Delhi High Court previously dismissed a similar petition.

With the Lok Sabha elections ongoing until June 1st and exams scheduled from May 2nd to 17th, students anxiously await any developments in the case. The outcome of the Supreme Court hearing holds significant importance for approximately 4,46,000 CA students, who hope for redressal to alleviate the stress caused by the scheduling conflict.

The ICAI has released admit cards for the upcoming exams, further intensifying the urgency of the situation for students. As the debate continues, students remain steadfast in their pursuit of a conducive environment for effective exam preparation without the disruptions posed by election-related activities.
