The district magistrate (DM) of Darbhanga, Rajiv Raushan has told the concerned authorities to vacate the land allotted for the proposed AIIMS Darbhanga latest by June 15.

The district magistrate (DM) of Darbhanga, Rajiv Raushan held a meeting on Wednesday in the auditorium of the Medical College Hospital regarding the AIIMS Darbhanga. During the meeting, first, he asked about the status of structures built on the land of AIIMS Darbhanga and then he directed the concerned authorities to vacate the land latest by June 15 for necessary earth filing work.

As per reports, the DM asked the DMCH principal to vacate the old college building and shift biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology from there, as reported by Hindustan Times.

AIIMS Darbhanga to have 15-20 Super Specialty Departments

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the establishment of AIIMS Darbhanga in September 2020 under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). The Cabinet also approved the creation of one post of Director in the basic pay of INR 2,25,000 (fixed) plus NPA (however pay + NPA would not exceed INR 2,37,500/-) for the above AIIMS. The total budget of AIIMS Darbhanga was set at INR 1264 crore.

The proposed AIIMS in Darbhanga will add 100 MBBS seats and 60 BSc Nursing seats to the total medical seats of the state. The 750-bedded hospital will have 15-20 Super Specialty Departments.

"In addition, there will be a Medical College, AYUSH Block, Auditorium, Night Shelter, Guest House, Hostels and residential facilities. The establishment of the new AIIMS will create capital assets for which requisite specialized manpower will be created, based on the pattern of the six new AIIMS, for their operations and maintenance. The recurring cost on these Institutions shall be met through Grant-in-Aid to them from Plan Budget Head of PMSSY of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare," said the official statement.
