Advocate General R Shunmugasundaram told the Madras High Court that the report will be forwarded to state Governor RN Ravi and the petitioner could obtain it from the Governor and submit his explanation.
State Advocate General R Shunmugasundaram informed the Madras High Court that the report of Justice (retired) P Kalaiyarasan Commission cannot be furnished to former Anna University Vice-Chancellor MK Surappa before forwarding it to the Governor, chancellor of Anna University.
Shunmugasundaram said the report will be forwarded to state Governor RN Ravi and the relevant rules do not provide for supplying a copy of the same to the accused person at this stage. He said the petitioner could obtain it from the Governor and submit his explanation.
Surappa had sought a copy of the report of inquiry commission from the Madras High Court. P Kalaiarasan was appointed to inquire into allegations of corruption and financial irregularities levelled against Surappa by three persons. They had claimed that he had siphoned INR 280 crore from the university.
On recording the submissions, the Judge said the orders are reserved in this matter. However, Justice V Parthiban held that the court is of the opinion that the inquiry report shall be given to Surappa. He pointed out that the petitioner could take further course of action only after he receives the inquiry commission’s report The judge adjourned the matter without mentioning a date for pronouncing the orders.
