Delhi University has announced the acceptance of the CUET exam for UG admission 2022-23. Here we decode the CUET exam pattern to understand the acceptance of CUET for admissions to BBA (FIA), BMS, and BBE courses.

Changes in DU Admission with CUET Acceptance

Is DU JAT Scrapped?

Delhi University admissions 2022-23 to UG courses will be based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). This decision has come to action to provide equal opportunity to students passing from all state and national education boards. Delhi University’s VC, Prof. Yogesh Singh, provided a green signal to the acceptance of CUET, ditching the old cutoff scheme for UG admissions. However, some UG courses including BBA (FIA), BMS, and BBE have been on offer based on the DU JAT scores along with the Class 12 performance.

PTI reported the release of a new admission policy where Dr Haneet Gandhi, Dean (admissions), decoded the CUET exam pattern. She informed that the admission to BBA, BMS and BBE courses shall take into account the eligibility conditions and performance in the third section of CUET. Does that mean the DU JAT exam will be scrapped?

CUET Exam Pattern 2022

Let’s decode the CUET test structure for a better understanding of the possibility of scrapping DU JAT.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released a notice stating the details of the CUET exam pattern. CUET will have three sections, the first section for languages, the second section for domain-specific subjects and the third is the General Test.

The first section will be divided into two subsections for languages

  • 1A section will have one language to be chosen among 13 languages
  • 1B section will have one language to be chosen from 20 languages

The second section is not divided into subsections

  • Candidates have to choose among the 27 domain-specific subjects
  • A maximum of six subjects can be chosen as per the university’s admission policy for a particular course

NOTE: Candidates might have to choose Mathematics as the domain-specific subject in the second section of CUET. Complete official details are still awaited.

This third section is a general test. This section comprises questions based on the course-specific knowledge acquired by the candidate.

  • If the Delhi University scraps the DU JAT exam, accepting the CUET for BBA, BMS and BBE admission, this section will comprise questions from the following sections:
    • Quantitative Ability
    • Reasoning and Analytical Ability
    • Business and General Awareness

NOTE: Delhi University will soon release a detailed notice sharing the insights on BBA, BMS, and BBE admissions in the 2022-23 session.

Is DU JAT Scrapped?

With the acceptance of CUET for BBA (FIA), BBE, and BMS courses, Delhi University is likely to scrap the UG entrance exams that were conducted earlier. Complete details of the admission criteria will be released once the Delhi University releases the draft for accepting CUET under the Delhi University admissions 2022-23.
