Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) has introduced an online undergraduate program focusing on digital business and entrepreneurship. The initiative aims to blend digital technology, business management principles, and an entrepreneurial mindset into a comprehensive curriculum.
Program Structure
The three-year undergraduate degree program offers flexible exit options for students. Upon completion of the first year, students receive a certificate. After two years, they earn a diploma, while those completing the full three years graduate with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA). The curriculum is designed with asynchronous learning in mind, featuring pre-recorded sessions. The first year emphasizes digital business, while the subsequent years delve deeper into entrepreneurship.
Admissions and Requirements
Prospective students need a minimum of 60% in their 12th standard exams to apply. The program is open to recent high school graduates, individuals pursuing a second undergraduate degree, and those seeking to expand their knowledge. Admission involves a 90-minute entrance test comprising 60 questions.
Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIM Bangalore, expressed confidence in the institute's ability to deliver high-quality online education. He emphasized the accessibility and cost-effectiveness of online learning, highlighting the institute's decade-long experience in the field.
Enrollment Details
IIM-B plans to enroll approximately 1,000 students for the program, which commences in September 2024. The total fee for the three-year course is 4.5 lakh, with each year consisting of 45 credits and covering 60 subjects. To facilitate interaction, each subject will include two live sessions, complementing asynchronous learning.
Academic Schedule and Assessment
Students can expect a weekly schedule comprising three hours of learning, 1.5 hours of reading, and 30 minutes of assignment work. The program culminates in physical, proctored exams held at multiple centers. Only Indian nationals residing in the country are eligible to apply at present.
Career Opportunities and Recruitment Process
Upon completion, students will undergo a digital recruitment process, where they can upload their resumes for consideration by recruiters. The institute aims to provide mentorship through 50 faculty members, ensuring comprehensive support for students throughout their academic journey.
