In partnership with SVKM's NMIMS, Physyog is set to become an integral part of the institution’s academic offerings. The collaboration aims to introduce specialized programs and diploma courses based on the book's innovative teachings.

In celebration of World Physiotherapy Day, SVKM's NMIMS hosted a special free Physiotherapy-Yoga (Phys-Yog) session led by the acclaimed Yoga Master Dr Mickey Mehta. Renowned globally for his expertise in holistic healing and wellness, Dr Mehta provided valuable insights into managing back care, aligning with this year’s theme of ‘Low Back Pain.’

Physyog Book Launch

The occasion also marked the launch of the groundbreaking book, Physyog: An Evolution of Physiotherapy, A Revolution with Yoga. Authored by Dr Rebekah Martyres and Dr. Dhara Shah, with editorial contributions from Dr Mansi Bhartiya, the book was officially unveiled by Dr Mickey Mehta and esteemed physiotherapy expert Professor Dr Ali Irani. The book is dedicated to the legendary Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar and Dr Ali Irani, a grand master in physiotherapy.

Strategic Partnerships and Future Plans

In partnership with SVKM's NMIMS, Physyog is set to become an integral part of the institution’s academic offerings. The collaboration aims to introduce specialized programs and diploma courses based on the book's innovative teachings. The authors plan to present Physyog to the Indian Association of Physiotherapy and the Indian Medical Association, and will also forward the book to the AYUSH Ministry to explore further collaboration opportunities.

Integrating Holistic Healing

Physyog represents more than just a book—it embodies years of exploration and experience in holistic health. By bridging ancient yoga wisdom with modern physiotherapy science, the work offers a comprehensive approach to health and wellness. The primary objective of Physyog is to transform conventional healing practices by integrating empathy, advanced breathwork techniques, a deep understanding of the autonomic nervous system, and the interplay of biochemistry and biomechanics.

Holistic Approach to Health

The book guides physiotherapists and yoga therapists on a journey from being mere practitioners to becoming true healers. It emphasizes a holistic connection between body and mind, aiming to provide care that not only addresses physical ailments but also nurtures overall well-being. The vision behind Physyog is to merge yoga and physiotherapy for a comprehensive approach to holistic care, combining motion and thoughts.

Authors’ Perspectives

Dr Dhara Shah, co-author of Physyog, highlighted the transformative nature of the book: “Physyog is where movement heals, and breath transforms the subtle layers of our being.” Dr Mansi Bhartiya, the book’s editor, added, “Yoga and Physiotherapy unite, bringing balance and strength to the journey of healing.” Dr Rebekah Martyres, another author, emphasized, “Yog awakens the spirit, heals the body by grounding the mind.”
