NMIMS has changed the MBA selection criteria 2025 with an introduction of a competency assessment. Earlier, NMIMS admission process involved a WAT and a WATSON Glaser test. Additionally, the NMAT exam had a weightage of 60 per cent. However, with the current session, NMIMS has reduced the NMAT weightage to 20 per cent. The newly introduced NMIMS competency assessment has a weightage of 50 per cent. Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor of NMIMS, informed in an interview that the competency assessment will have multiple choice questions to analyse different competencies of the shortlisted candidates. Questions in the NMIMS competency exam will test managerial ability, cognitive ability, and critical thinking ability of the candidate.

NMIMS will soon release the details of the competency assessment, including the type of questions, test duration, and other details of the competency test pattern. In addition, candidates can expect NMIMS to release a mock test to aid the preparation for competency assessment.

Candidates can expect to have the function of navigating across different sections of the competency assessment. Additionally, the NMIMS online competency assessment will allow candidates to attempt any question from any section they like. More details on NMIMS competency assessment will be released on the official website to provide clarity. NMIMS calls and PI shortlist indicated the release of a complete guide for the second stage of admission by January 25.

This year, candidates saw a decline in the NMAT cutoff for the second stage of NMIMS admissions.
