Though all the exams have been deferred, for the time being, it has been decided to seek permission for holding semester exams of professional courses as well as PG course having lesser number of students as examination can be organized observing all covid protocols in the strictest sense.
Amid the rise in COVID cases and its variant Omicron, the Binod Bihari Koylanchal University (BBMKU) has announced that all the undergraduate and postgraduate exams have been deferred. The decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of the examination board of BBMKU under the chairmanship of Kamal John Lakra, North Chotanagpur Commissioner cum in Charge Vice-Chancellor of BBMKU in view of the latest covid guidelines issued by the state government on January 15.
While speaking about the same, Suman Kumar Barnwal said, “Though we have deferred all the exams, for the time being, we have decided to seek permission for holding semester exams of professional courses as well as PG course having lesser number of students as examination can be organized observing all covid protocols in the strictest sense.”
The second-semester exams for UG, PG courses were earlier scheduled to begin from January 6 and the PhD entrance exams were scheduled on January 9. While around 26,000 students are scheduled to appear in second semester UG exams, around 3,000 students are set to appear for the PG second semester exams.
Earlier, on-campus classes were also suspended by the state government in all schools and colleges until January 31 in the wake of a significant spike in cases of COVID-19 in the two states. “Classes will be held in online mode, but administrative work can be done at schools, colleges and coaching centers with half the workforce,” a notification from Jharkhand chief secretary Sukhdev Singh stated.
