District Basic Education Officer OP Yadav stated that the directive applies to schools under all boards, including UP Board, CBSE, and ICSE, and will be enforced from Thursday. Block Education Officers have been instructed to inspect compliance.
The District Basic Education Officer (BSA), OP Yadav, has issued final notices to 30 prominent schools in Ghaziabad for failing to admit children selected under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. The schools have been directed to complete the admission process by November 25, failing which a recommendation for cancellation of their recognition will be made. Despite nearly 70% of the academic session having passed, many private schools have not yet admitted the children allotted seats under RTE.
Parents’ Association Pushes for Action
The move follows consistent efforts by the Ghaziabad Parents Association (GPA), which raised complaints about non-compliance with RTE admission mandates. GPA President Seema Tyagi and Secretary Anil Singh stated that this year, around 6,200 children were selected under the four-phase RTE lottery, but thousands are still awaiting admission.
Schools Under Scrutiny
Notices have been issued to major schools, including DPS Vasundhara, Siddharth Vihar, Indirapuram, Dehradun Public School Sanjay Nagar, The Shri Ram Universal School Loni, GD Goenka Public School Rajnagar Extension, Children Academy Vijay Nagar, and Cambridge School Indirapuram, among others. In total, 30 schools, such as Amity International School Vasundhara, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School Vasundhara, and KR Mangalam World School Vaishali, are listed.
The notice warns that failure to comply will result in strict action, including cancellation of recognition.
Online Classes Mandated Amid Pollution
Meanwhile, all schools in Ghaziabad, both government and private, have been directed to shift to online classes for students from grades 1 to 12 due to severe air pollution. The decision, in line with Supreme Court orders, comes after pollution levels in the region reached a critical stage, raising concerns about the health of students and parents.
District Basic Education Officer OP Yadav stated that the directive applies to schools under all boards, including UP Board, CBSE, and ICSE, and will be enforced from Thursday. Block Education Officers have been instructed to inspect compliance.
Some schools reportedly violated earlier instructions to switch to online classes, prompting stricter monitoring measures.
Deadline and Warning
The Basic Education Officer has emphasized that schools must complete RTE admissions by November 25 to avoid strict action, ensuring that children receive their rightful access to education.
