The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) will be reducing the syllabus for Assam HSLC Exam 2021 by 30 per cent. The board will be reducing the syllabus for classes 9th and 10th as a one-time measure for this academic year. The decision has been taken after the reduction in the syllabus has been done by many boards including CBSE. All the schools under the aegis of SEBA will be provided the new syllabus for the new academic year in a PDF format.
The state Education Board has taken this decision to help students feel less burdened as the teaching hours have been reduced owing to the pandemic and the consequent closure of schools. Ramesh Chandra Jain, Chairman, SEBA, informed the decision that 30 per cent of the syllabus for all the subjects will be reduced and the Board will send the new curriculum to the students. The new syllabus will also be able for parents, teachers and students and they can download it from the official website of the SEBA; i.e. sebaonline.org. Earlier, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, AHSEC, took a similar decision for students of classes 11 and 12th.
“The move will help students to cope with the loss caused due to the ongoing pandemic,” said the Chairman.
Earlier, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) had reduced 30 per cent of the syllabus for Assam HS second-year students for all the three streams. The Assam Government had earlier decided to reopen its educational institutions. However, with the sudden rise in the number of coronavirus cases, the state government has now ordered to keep the schools shut till September 30, 2020.
Earlier, several states across the country including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab and others, have also announced reducing the syllabus by 30 per cent to make up for the study loss that has occurred due to ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
