In response to the news article published in one of the leading daily, over revised NCERT textbooks for classes VI, IX, and XI leaving teachers in a tizzy, the Education Ministry has issued a clarification stating that the information presented in the article is factually incorrect and misleading.

Availability of Grade 6 Textbooks

The 2-month delay mentioned in the article is incorrect. NCERT has implemented a month-long bridge program for Grade 6 across all 10 subject areas, allowing teachers and students to transition smoothly to the new curriculum.

Curriculum Changes for Other Classes

It stated that it was erroneously reported that there was confusion about whether revised textbooks for classes IX and XI would be included. The Education Ministry reiterated that, as per the CBSE circular no. Acad. 29/2024 dated March 22, 2024, there are no changes to the existing curriculum or textbooks for all classes other than 3 and 6.

Schools are advised to continue using the same textbooks for these classes as used in the previous academic year (2023-24).

Availability of Textbooks for Classes IX and XI

The Ministry has stated that the article inaccurately mentioned that Class IX English & Geography and Class XI Computer Science, Chemistry, and History textbooks were not printed.

RPDC Bangalore, which caters to all South Indian States including Tamil Nadu, has reported that the title-wise demand for Class 9 and 11 textbooks has been met by the NCERT Publication division. No shortage has been reported by RPDC Bangalore.

The Education Ministry urges all stakeholders to disregard the misleading information and adhere to the official communications regarding textbook availability and curriculum changes.
