The government of Sikkim has launched a First-of-its-kind initiative in Northeast India covering 30% of the schools in the state. The government has collaborated with Nischal’s Smart Learning Solutions positively impacting the educational experience of over 30,000 students across the state.

Under this initiative, the government has introduced 63 patented microscale portable labs for Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology across 63 government schools in Sikkim. This effort which covers approximately 30% of the state’s schools, also includes comprehensive training for over 250 teachers. The labs, equipped with over 5,000 tools and enabling more than 2,500 experiments, offer students a hands-on learning experience by prioritizing experimental and experiential learning. The content has been carefully tailored to align with the Sikkim State Curriculum (SCERT) for grades 1-10, ensuring it meets the needs and standards of the state.

Additionally, the Learning Solution’s AR-powered resources that are included in the lab, provide a captivating experience by transforming abstract concepts into dynamic elements, with an extensive library of 3D animation videos simplifying complex concepts. Addressing the challenges of internet connectivity in the region, the company has gone the extra mile to provide digital content in offline mode so that students can access high-quality resources regardless of connectivity issues.

Sharing his thoughts on the milestone success, Nischal Narayanam, Founder of Nischals, stated, “Our collaboration with the Sikkim government marks a significant step towards educational transformation, setting a new standard for future initiatives. It also stands as a testament to what can be achieved when public and private sectors join forces in pursuit of educational excellence. We, at nischals, want to foster innovative educational resources to not only shape minds but shape the future of students globally.”

Successfully combating logistical challenges

Sikkim, known for its high Human Development Index, exemplifies a progressive approach that aligns with the company’s vision of educational advancement. Despite being headquartered in Telangana, far to the south, the company has successfully navigated logistical challenges to bring its products to Sikkim, demonstrating their commitment to reaching even the most geographically challenging areas. This collaboration gains significance due to Sikkim's strategic location bordering Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and China.

To ensure effective lab use, Nischals prioritized comprehensive teacher training sessions. This impactful initiative has yielded a remarkable shift in students’ interest. Traditionally leaning towards arts and humanities, Sikkim's students are embracing math and science through interactive labs, overcoming apprehension and fostering a newfound passion for STEM fields. This paves the way for a future generation of innovators and problem-solvers.

This initiative has received commendations from distinguished leaders, including Honorable Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Education Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha. Recently, the brand also partnered with the Government of Gujarat under Mission Schools of Excellence announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to establish tinkering labs in 2,180 schools across the state.
