Pune Schools Closed! With heavy rainfall inundating various parts of Pune district and the Weather Department's forecast predicting further showers, the administration has declared a holiday for July 25 for schools in Pune city, Pimpri Chinchwad, and western areas of the district.

District Collector Suhas Diwase issued an order declaring a holiday for all primary and secondary schools in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Maval, Mulshi, Bhor Velha, Khed, Ambegaon, and Junnar Haveli.
"We have deployed personnel from the fire brigade and disaster management cells to low-lying areas. Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities," stated Diwase.
Emergency Measures and Dam Discharge
The announcement follows heavy rainfall overnight, particularly affecting ghat areas. Authorities responded by increasing water discharge from the Khadakwasla dam to 35,574 cusecs by 6 am to manage rising water levels.
The administration's decision aims to ensure public safety amidst the adverse weather conditions, urging residents to exercise caution and cooperate with emergency services.
The situation is being closely monitored as local authorities work to mitigate any potential flood risks and provide necessary assistance to affected areas.
