The interview with Avineer Rakshit, a 12th-grade student from VIBGYOR High, NIBM, CISCE School, who scored an impressive 97.5%, sheds light on his academic journey and future aspirations.

The 2024 CISCE board exam results have showcased remarkable success, boasting a striking pass rate of 99.47% for ICSE (Class 10) and 98.19% for ISC (Class 12). In the ICSE final examination this year, a combined total of 2,43,617 students took part, with boys constituting 53.57% and girls 46.43%. Despite being in the minority, girls demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving a pass rate of 99.65%, outshining the boys' pass rate of 99.31%. The interview captures Avineer's academic journey comprehensively, offering insights into his achievements, aspirations, and strategies for success.

Q. Please tell us something about your family background.

Avineer Rakshit: My mother holds a degree in Social Sciences & Biology and leads an Art Foundation, The Art Compassβ„’, based out of Europe. My father operates a media and consulting company, Feelberryβ„’ Oy, based out of Finland. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, my grandfather is a Mechanical Engineer with an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad.

Q. Please tell me about your stream. Did you choose this stream by choice? How much have you scored?

Avineer Rakshit: I pursued Sciences in XI and XII, encompassing Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, and English Language and Literature. The choice to pursue science was entirely mine, driven by my aspiration to become a scientific innovator focusing on designing and building automobiles and aircraft. I have achieved a score of 97.5%.

Q. What was your strategy to score above 90%?

Avineer Rakshit: My approach didn't adhere to a specific strategy; I simply dedicated myself to studying. My parents emphasized the importance of studying to foster innovation. They likened exams to enjoyable challenges, akin to swimming or building intricate Lego models. Initially skeptical, I eventually embraced their perspective. I meticulously read the entire syllabus multiple times, progressively enhancing my understanding of concepts and their real-world applications. I occasionally ventured beyond the syllabus to deepen my comprehension. Surprisingly, ample sleep was integral to my unconventional approach, rejuvenating my mind for rigorous study sessions and facilitating complex concept assimilation.

Q. Who encouraged you the most in this journey?

Avineer Rakshit: Encouragement emanated from various sources. Teachers provided unwavering support, often displaying more concern for our studies than ourselves. However, my parents played the most significant role, guiding me to perceive education as a means to acquire life skills rather than merely achieve academic success. Their emphasis on learning, rather than fixation on outcomes, proved invaluable. Additionally, my school facilitated a seamless transition from an IB School to ISC mid-term XI, further nurturing my academic journey.

Q. What was your routine during CISCE board exam preparation?

Avineer Rakshit: Admittedly, my routine lacked meticulous planning, owing to my inherent laziness. Nonetheless, when I did study, I did so earnestly. Regular breaks, often spent playing the piano, revitalized my focus. Thanks to the school's proactive approach in covering the syllabus well in advance, my exam preparation mirrored routine studies. Moreover, abstaining from mobile phone usage alleviated last-minute anxiety induced by group messages discussing exam papers.

Q. What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming for?

Avineer Rakshit: I aspire to pursue Mechanical Engineering, aligning with my familial legacy spanning three generations. While I haven't meticulously charted my career path, my immediate goal involves studying Engineering and acquiring pilot certification. Lappeenranta, where I intend to study, boasts a Flying Club, facilitating my aviation aspirations.

Q. Will you be going for CUET, JEE, or NEET? What is the reason for choosing higher education in this stream?

Avineer Rakshit: I've opted against preparing for CUET, JEE, or NEET, as I've secured admission to study Mechanical Engineering in Finland. Having already achieved proficiency in English, demonstrated by a TOEFL score of 105, I've been accepted into several reputable Finnish universities. Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT), renowned for its Mechanical Engineering program, beckons as my academic destination.

Q. Please share some tips for students prepping up to appear in CISCE Board Exams 2025.

Avineer Rakshit: Individual study styles vary, rendering universal advice ineffective. However, prioritizing thorough understanding of syllabus topics is paramount. Moreover, ample sleep is instrumental in alleviating exam-related stress, fostering a refreshed mind conducive to effective studying.
