Schools Closing Updates: Amid cold waves in Patna, all the schools upto class 8th have been given orders to remain closed till January 20, 2024. IMD has predicted severe cold and dense fog for new next few days in Northern India including Bihar. Get latest updates here 

Schools Closed in Patna: Due to the cold weather conditions, Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, District Magistrate, Patna has announced the closure of all the schools up to classes 8th till January 20, 2024. Earlier, the schools in Patna were scheduled to remain closed till today: January 16, 2024, however it has been extended till January 20 now. 

Also, schools for classes 9th onwards will continue as per the schedule. By previous directives, educational activities for these classes will be prohibited before 9 am and after 3:30 pm. The classes will be held from 11 am to 3 pm instead of 9 am to 5 pm. 

This decision was made considering the potential impact of the weather on children's health. Also, special classes, conducted with necessary precautions to ensure board exam preparation, will not be subject to these restrictions.

In case of any query, parents or students can contact their respective schools to know the status of winter vacation. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Gaya recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 4.9 degrees Celsius. The IMD predicts that minimum temperatures will remain between 9 and 12 degrees Celsius over the next few days in various parts of the state, including Patna.
