In a recent directive, District Magistrate Arvind Mallapa has announced that all schools and colleges in Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, will be closed from July 26 to August 2, 2024 amid Kanwar Yatra.
All schools and Anganwadi centres in Dehradun will be closed on July 26 in response to an 'orange' alert issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The alert warns of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in the district.

District Magistrate Sonika confirmed the decision, stating that the closure applies to both government and private schools from classes 1 to 12, as well as Anganwadi centres. This precautionary measure aims to prevent any potential incidents resulting from adverse weather conditions.

Sonika emphasized that the closure is intended to mitigate risks associated with heavy rain, which can increase the likelihood of landslides and other hazards in the district. The decision reflects the authorities' commitment to ensuring the safety of students and staff during severe weather conditions.
UP Schools Closed from July 26 to August 2

This decision is intended to avoid any travel-related issues during the Kanwar Yatra."
