IIM Bangalore, Karnataka government to offer entrepreneurship training for SC, ST women

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore is setting up an entrepreneurship training certificate programme for women graduates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities under its  Executive Education Programmes (EEPs). The programme is being organized in association with the Karnataka state government. The first batch of the IIM Bangalore training programme will start on August 16, 2022, according to the official statement released by the institute. Eligibility Criteria

The IIM Bangalore entrepreneurship training certificate programme has been launched with an aim to help existing entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. Women from Karnataka with a degree in any subject and are below the age of 45 years, and belong to the SC or ST category are eligible to apply for the IIM Bangalore entrepreneurship training programme, which is sponsored by the Karnataka government. The selection of the candidates will be based in an online aptitude test conducted by the management institute. Based on the test results, 300 candidates will be selected for the IIM Bangalore certificate programme.

The duration of the IIMB certificate programme is five to six months. The classes will be conducted in a hybrid mode that includes in-person on-campus sessions, and live, online sessions. Boarding and lodging facility will be facilitated by IIM Bangalore during the on-campus training.

Candidates to receive stipend

The programme will be delivered in the English language. The government intends to provide training to 200 SC candidates and 100 ST candidates under this programme. The state government will also give a stipend to the candidates for travel expenses based on the attendance of the trainees. Four batches of 75 participants each will be formed.
