CBSE issues clarification over Class 10 textbook cover showing J-K not part of India

CBSE has issued clarification over a tweet which said that the CBSE Class 10 French textbook cover shows Jammu and Kashmir not a part of India. Read on to know more!

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued clarification over a Twitter user's post that triggered controversry. A Twitter user said that the Class 10 French textbook showed Jammu and Kashmir not part of the Indian map. Having over 47,000 followers, the user sought clairifcation from the Board. 

Tagging CBSE, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union home minister Amit Shah, it wrote on Twitter, “Hey cbseindia29 is this true? Don't U recognize Jammu n Kashmir as integral part of India? Or you still have leftist gang holding tight control over school book section? U r touching new heights- from Gender Confusion in kids to JK Separatism! Amazing dpradhanbjp. ccAmitShah.”

However, the CBSE clarified that “the cover page of the Class 10 French Textbook which inadvertently shows the wrong map is from an earlier phased out edition of 2014 of the textbook. The revised version is available at CBSE website.”

As per the CBSE official website, CBSE Class 10 French textbook has been revised in 2014. The textbook is the fourth revised edition.
