CLAT 2022 - How to select an NLU for LLM specialization

Candidates appearing in the nation-level exam need to know the right procedure for selecting an NLU for pursuing an LLM degree. Here are some useful tips.

The Consortium of NLUs will conduct the CLAT 2022 exam on May 8. The application form for the exam is currently open and can be filled by eligible candidates latest by March 31. CLAT PG 2022 scores will be used for admission to the one-year LLM program offered by the participating NLUs.

Currently, there are 22 NLUs that are member institutes of the Consortium. But only 19 of these NLUs offer the LLM program.

How to select an NLU for pursuing an LLM program

  • There are 19 participating NLUs that offer the LLM program
  • The NLUs are among the most prestigious law institutes in the country.
  • However, NLUs like NALSAR and NLSIU Bangalore are rated among the best in the country.
  • The candidate needs to refer to NIRF Law rankings for the last and previous years’ to get an insight into how the law school is performing and whether it is showing any consistency.
  • The candidate also needs to check the fee criteria for individual NLUs.
  • Finally, closely check the placement record of the NLU before finalizing one.
