Anna University Open-book Exam 2021 begins TODAY! Check important guidelines here

No students will be allowed to visit the institution to hand over the hard copy of the answer script in person, clarifies the office of the Controller of Examinations, Anna University.  

Anna University Open Book Exams 2021: Anna University is all set to commence its even semester exams in open-book format from today, i.e. June 21. Earlier, a large section of students had to undergo a lot of difficulties while undertaking online proctored exams for the odd semester. However, it is expected that the open book exam in the descriptive mode for the even-semester will be free of hassles. During the odd semester exams, the University administered that a large number of students indulged in malpractice. The exams were conducted under a system that used artificial intelligence to record face emotions, eye movements and all activities. During the MCQ examination of 60-minute duration, students sat in a closed room facing the light ensuring enough brightness for the camera on the desktop, laptop, smartphone or tablet.

According to the reports, the software treated movement out of the camera’s view as the deviation of rules. Remote proctors/invigilators/squad kept continuous watch and monitored the candidates for the entire duration of the examination in addition to auto-proctoring.

Talking about the even semester exams, a functionary of a self-financing engineering college said, “Since the open book exam will be of the descriptive type in pen and paper mode, managements of affiliated engineering colleges are considerably relieved.” Students are expected to receive the questions 30 minutes in advance and they are required to upload scanned answer sheets and original answer sheets to the websites of their colleges.

While releasing important guidelines, the varsity stated, “For examinations of fore-noon session, the answer script should be dispatched by registered post/speed post/courier service on the same day. For those in the afternoon session, the answer script should be dispatched either on the same day or the very next working day. Failure to do so will be treated as being absent.” Students will get an hour to upload the soft copy in PDF format after completing the three-hour exam.
