Massachusetts Institute of Technology named world’s best university by graduate recruiters. IIM Ahmedabad, IIT Kharagpur, Amity University and Bangalore University also feature in top 250 institutes.
Three Indian universities – Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru and IIT Bombay -- have been named among the top 100 universities in the world for graduate employability. IIT Delhi has secured the 27th rank in Times Higher Education (THE) Graduate Employability Rankings 2021. Apart from IIT Delhi, six other Indian universities have featured in the top 250 institutes, which include the IISc Bengaluru (61), IIT Bombay (97), Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad (162), IIT Kharagpur (170), Amity University (225),and Bangalore University (249).
According to an official statement, the ranking is based on a framework of six key drivers identified by businesses as the main contributors to creating employable graduates:
- Soft skills and digital literacy
- Academic Excellence: research output, quality of teaching staff
- Digital performance: innovative learning methods, specialist training on digital jobs
- Focus on work: entrepreneurial environment, relevant work experience as part of the curriculum
- Internationalism: international curriculum/staff
- Specialisation: up-to-date technical or business expertise, relevant specialised research
Indian universities see clear rise for the first time in years: Survey
The annual survey, conducted by higher education HR consultancy Emerging and published by UK-headquartered Times Higher Education (THE), ranks the top 250 universities. According to the survey, Indian universities see a clear rise for the first time in years due to strengths in subject specialisation and graduate skills, with UK, Israel and India standing out for digital specialisms.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology has been named the world’s best university by graduate recruiters, followed by California Institute of Technology, Harvard, Cambridge and Stanford.
