Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kaziranga University (K.U.). This collaboration will help both the institutes to closely engage in the areas of curriculum enhancement, collaborative work in the field of research & development and boosting the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region. IIT Guwahati will also assist K.U. in setting up advanced laboratories for experimental work in various areas of Engineering and Sciences.
IIT Guwahati hosted the MoU signing event for the Kaziranga University team including, Dr. P. K. Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Diganta Munshi, Registrar, and other faculty delegates. The MoU was signed between Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati, and Dr. P. K. Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, K.U.
“IIT Guwahati through its highly qualified faculty and excellent research infrastructure will extend every possible support to Kaziranga University and assured the crucial role and importance of having the only IIT in this region and the major initiatives it is taking to shape human resources in this region. Along with this, the Institute will provide necessary support and guidance to both student entrepreneurs as well as aspiring investors of K.U. to facilitate their growth and prosperity,” Professor T.G.Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati said during the inauguration ceremony.
Prof. Sitharam also highlighted the strengths and contributions made by IIT Guwahati for society and how it has excelled in its endeavours to diversify in the fields of Science, Engineering, Healthcare, Humanities, Design, as well as interdisciplinary teaching and research areas. “This MoU signing with K.U. is a step towards connecting with institutes in North East India and will contribute towards our goal of building a Network of Excellence”, he added.
