The six-month online professional certification programmes come with over 150 hours of learning, several capstone projects and real-world case studies.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna in collaboration with WileyNXT has launched a post-graduate certification course in three key fields; i.e. Cybersecurity and Blockchain; AI & Machine Learning; and Big Data Engineering.

Being a globally recognised centre of Computer Education with world-class research output, IIT Patna’s courses with WileyNXT plans to build students’ competencies in new emerging fields to grow their careers further. The courses are specifically designed for final-year students and early-stage professionals who aim to develop a career in the respective fields.  According to the official release, Post the successful completion of the programme, the participants will get a joint certificate from WileyNXT and IIT Patna.

While speaking about the collaboration, Vikas Gupta, the Managing Director of Wiley India, stated his excitement in offering these cutting-edge programmes in partnership with IIT Patna.

The six-month online professional certification programmes come with over 150 hours of learning, several capstone projects and real-world case studies, immersions at the campus and masterclasses by top industry experts and business technology drivers in India. These are designed to drive IT professionals towards growth in career and salaries and enable them to learn cutting-edge technologies in-depth.

He further said, “The unexpected aspect of our current environment needs us to enhance and accelerate our understanding of the digital landscape. The aim behind this collaboration is to create industry-focused, job-role mapped courses to develop and nurture the next generation of skilled professionals.”

The Data Security Council of India (DSCI) report stated that India is the second most affected country for cyber-attacks between 2016 to 2018. As a matter of fact, PWC study has noted that the instances of cyberattacks on Indian enterprises surged by 117 per cent in 2019 over the previous year.

Consequently, businesses and enterprises are scouting for trained cybersecurity professionals. However, due to a skilled workforce’s crunch, supply doesn’t meet industry requirements, added Gupta.

Considering that India is home to many IT companies and serves several global companies’ operational needs, there is an urgent requirement to resolve the discrepancies in the demand and supply of cybersecurity professionals. And that is why IITP and WileyNXT are launching the cybersecurity certification programme to bridge this gap.

The AI/ML certification programme has been exclusively designed to create a skilled base of artificial intelligence professionals for various industries such as healthcare, supply chain, cybersecurity amongst others, added Gupta.
