The Jawaharlal Nehru University reopened its campus today for the third-year PhD scholars. The varsity will allow final-year MSc and MBA students to return to campus from September 27. The JNU on September 6 had reopened its campus for final year PhD students.
According to the official notice released by the University earlier, the JNU campus will be first reopened for its PhD research scholars who have to submit their thesis by the end of this year. The varsity also informed that Dr BR Ambedkar Central Library will be sanitised and seating arrangements of reading halls with 50 per cent capacity will be made before reopening the library for students and scholars.
The Delhi government on September 17 announced that following the improvement in the COVID-19 situation the schools for Classes 9 to 12, colleges, and coaching institutions will reopen from September 1.
In another circle issued by JNU on September 22, the university said that it will allow entry of third-year PhD scholars, both hostellers and day scholars into the campus from September 23,.
Apart from this, JNU also announced that it will allow buses to enter the campus from today onwards.
"In order to avoid overcrowding, it has been decided to decentralise the process of issuance of an ID card from the security office. The students' ID cards will be issued at the School/Special Centre level," the order read. It stated that final-year MSc students, BTech fourth-year and final-year MBA students will be allowed to enter campus from September 27.
