LU affiliated colleges facing difficulty in conducting online classes can now use LU’s own learning management system, SLATE that promises more features as compared to other video conferencing apps for online classes.
Lucknow University Exams 2021: Amid the ongoing pandemic situation, almost all the higher education institutions and colleges are prepping up to conduct online exams. In order to avoid the glitches involved in the conduction of exams via virtual mode, Lucknow University has come up with a solution. LU affiliated colleges facing difficulty in conducting online classes can now use LU’s own learning management system, SLATE that promises more features as compared to other video conferencing apps for online classes.
Colleges willing to use the platform are required to pay a certain amount of usage fee. The decision was taken during the finance committee meet on Saturday, i.e. June 5.
Talking about the SLATE, a senior official said, “An affiliated college needs to pay Rs 10,000 for using SLATE for an undergraduate or postgraduate course. This fee will be for one year.” Also during the meeting, approval to start the Institute of Advanced Molecular Genetics and Infectious Diseases at ONGC Centre for Advanced Studies was given. Under thi institute, two courses of MSc in Molecular and Human Genetics and Diploma in Skill development in processing and value addition of medicinal and aromatic plants will be offered.
Lucknow University, spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava said, “The courses passed in finance committee will help in the development of human resources in specialized skills of molecular diagnostics and drug testing. It will enhance the technical skills of students and provide better prospects in research and development divisions in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and health care industries,” said. He further added that the institute will also provide opportunities for research career in biomedical genetics.
