βIISc, Bengaluru is a premier institute of higher learning and research, established in 1909, under the Charitable Endowment Act, 1890 (as a joint effort of Shri J N Tata, the government of Indian and the then Maharaja of Mysore), and subsequently brought under the purview of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956,β the minister said.
βThe institute is engaged in the pursuit of basic knowledge in science and engineering, as well as on the application of its research findings for industrial and social benefits. At present, there is no such plan to establish the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at more places,β he said.
Meanwhile, IISc commenced the admission application process for various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Candidates interested in IISC admissions 2021 must note that the ongoing application process for admission to UG & PG programmes is for international students. IISC opened the online application portal for UG courses on February 19, 2021, and the last date to submit the admission application is April 30, 2021, by 11:59 pm, Friday. However, the last date to apply for MTech, MDes, MMgt, PhD proramme is April 23, 2021. The application process for PG and research programmes was commenced on March 15.
The official information released by IISc states that while submitting the applications at https:/admissions.iisc.ac.in/international/ candidates are not required to submit any application fees for the said programmes. The admission fee is no different from the general candidates.
