SASTRA University, Tamil Nadu, with the assistance of Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL), has collaborated with Taiwan’s Asia University and Yuan Ze University, to launch a joint learning programme for students pursuing MTech degree in Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) design.

The parties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to kick start the venture in the coming academic year. The representatives of the institutions, AICTE Chairman, Anil Sahasrabuddhe, SASTRA University Vice Chancellor Dr S Vaidhyasubramaniam, Advisor Prof Kamakoti, TEPL Head – Human Resources Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, Director General of Department of International Affairs of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, Dr Nicole Lee, President of Asia University, Dr Jeffrey Tsai, President of Yuan Ze University, Dr Jyh-Yang Wu along with Peters Chen, Director of the Education Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India, met online for the virtual initiation ceremony to formally launch the initiative.

Peters Chen said the initiative would bring Taiwan and India closer in terms of academic and industrial cooperation. He said, “India seeks to internationalise its higher education system and this project serves that purpose as students can now experience learning and internship in different environments and cultures while making use of the best available resources available to them.”

As Taiwan is the world’s leading manufacturer of semiconductors, Indian students can make use of this opportunity to learn from the best in this field and also take up internships in the country. Furthermore, TEPL has offered to provide job opportunities to students who would be graduating from the programme hence making it an attractive prospect for students.
