The portal; i.e. fees.sauuni.ac.in, was launched by in-charge SU Vice-Chancellor Professor Girish Bhimani.
“Students studying in (academic) departments on the campus of the Saurashtra University will have to pay their fees online via this portal. They will no longer require to go to the cash window for paying their fees,” a release from SU stated. The launch of the portal came on the day of a scuffle among students who had queued up in front of the fee collection window in the administrative building of the varsity on Monday.
Established in 1967, Saurashtra University is located in Rajkot, Gujarat. There are 237 colleges affiliated with this university. It is recognised by UGC and accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade. This university offers diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD and MPhil programmes across 29 departments, including Biochemistry, Economics, History, Journalism, Law, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Work, Mathematics and more.
Admission to the courses at Saurashtra University is done on merit basis, entrance exam and personal interviews. The university has collaborations with various renowned organisations such as Constantine The Philosopher University, Slovakia; National Institute of Mountaineering Sports and Applied Sciences, Institute for Plasma Research, among others.
Saurashtra University owns a well-established Training & Placement Cell and also arranges “Mega Placement Fairs” for the entire region. Some of the top recruiting companies that visit the campus for the placements, include Reliance Industries Limited, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and Piramal Healthcare. The university provides financial assistance to economically-backward students under ‘Earn while Learn Scheme’. Under this scheme, the university aims at providing accomodation, books and food for students coming from poor families free of cost.
