Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced that it will conduct the Doctor of Philosophy, PhD Entrance Examination on August 22, 2021. Students must note that they can apply for Pune University Admission 2021 for PhD course by visiting the official website of the varsity; i.e. unipune.ac.in.
The SPPU Entrance examination 2021 for the PhD course will be conducted in online proctored mode. The standard passing criteria for the examination is 50 per cent marks for the general category. The standard passing criteria for the reserved category is 45 per cent marks.

The duration of the examination will be for two hours. It will be held between 10 am to 4 pm. The results for the examination will be published on the university website itself. Students must note that there will be no separate certification of results that will be issued by the university.
Savitribai Phule Pune University PhD Examination: Eligibility Criteria
All the candidates who are willing to apply for PhD Admission offered by SPPU can check the eligibility criteria below:
- Master's degree or a professional degree that is declared equivalent to the Master's degree by the statutory regulatory body
- Candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks in the aggregate or its equivalent grade B in the UGC 7-point scale
- Candidates with M.D or M.S qualifications can also apply
- Candidates having an equivalent degree from foreign universities can also apply
- Similarly, candidates who have cleared their Master of Philosophy, MPhil course work with at least 55% aggregate can also apply for the course. Candidates who have done their MPhil from SPPU itself, and it has been evaluated, may also be admitted to the Ph.D. programme.
However, candidates qualifying UGC-NET including Junior Research Fellow, JRF, State Level Eligibility Test, SLET, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GATE, Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR, and others will be exempted from appearing for the entrance examination.
