Visva Bharati University's VC attacked during protest, check details

Visva Bharati University's Vice-Chancellor has been allegedly attacked by miscreants at the entrance of his official residence in presence of officer-in-charge Santiniketan Police Station. The incident took place while students were staging protest near his residence. 

The incident took place days after the postponement of the annual convocation of the university, scheduled for December 11, till further notice due to the ongoing agitation by a section of students near the residence of vice-chancellor Prof Bidyut Chakrabarty, the Hindustan Times reported.

Meanwhile, a video has surfaced in which the vice-chancellor was purportedly seen throwing something at the protestors. Students' alleged that he threw a stone at protesting students.

Students have been demonstrating since November 24 around 100 metres away from his residence. Students have been demanding the authority to allot the hostel rooms immediately, and the thesis of PhD and MPhil scholars be evaluated in a time-bound manner. On December 6, the VC's car was blocked when he tried to leave his residence by the protesting students.
