Central Board of Secondary Education and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan employees to contribute to PM CARES Fund to help the government to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) have announced that to help the government in its fight against the COVID-19 it will contribute to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund).

CBSE has donated Rs 21,00,000 to the PM CARES FUND. The CBSE employees have donated their salary voluntarily to support the country in this time of crisis.

The CBSE in a statement said that employees under Group A have given their two-day salary while those belonging to Group B & C have given their one day salary to PM CARES Fund.

All the employees of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) have also donated their one day salary to PM CARES Fund to support the government in its effort to deal with the coronavirus situation.

Many Kendriya Vidyalaya's around the country are making their campuses available as quarantine centres.

On March 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that in order to combat the COVID-19 crisis and similar situations arising in the future, the government is launching a new fund. This fund will be used not only to deal with the current situation but also any emergency situation arising in the country in future. The fund has been named as PM CARES, and it will be headed by the Prime Minister. The Defence Minister, Home Minister, and Finance Minister will be its members.

The University Grant Commission had earlier also request all affiliate colleges to request all its teaching and non-teaching staffs to contribute in the PM CARES Fund.

The novel coronavirus cases are rising day by day and it is posing a serious threat to health and economic ramification for our country. We have been receiving requests from around the country for making generous donations to help the government's efforts in this critical situation.
