IWPA has requested to conduct an internal assessment / online assessment or OBE exam.

Parents of school and college-going students have sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to adopt alternative modes of assessment for this academic year as cases of COVID-19 have given rise to the third wave.

School board and university examinations are scheduled to be conducted in the coming months between February to April. India Wide Parents Association (IWPA) has sent a letter to the PM requesting to take a decision as soon as possible and conduct internal assessment / online assessment, Assessment via Open Book Examination (OBE) for students across India.

The letter states that many students and parents from across India are worried about the upcoming Class 10 and Class 12 Board examinations as well as the university exams in India which includes state Boards, CBSE, ICSE, ISC, IB, Cambridge, etc. due to the rise in COVID cases again and the third wave which has hit the country and the students, teachers and their family members being COVID
positive this time as compared to last year.

Cases are rising and medical infrastructure is also collapsing in most of the states. Many teachers and students are not fully vaccinated due to which there are more chances of spread. Students and parents are requesting to adopt an alternate mode of assessment instead of physical or offline mode, students can be assessed and evaluated via internal assessment.

It mentions that many countries are following this mode of assessment for the safety of students.

“I, therefore, request you to kindly intervene and discuss with all the state government, UGC and Boards and adopt a uniform mode of assessment to save their future and academic year. This will help in starting the academic year on time this year and students will also get time to prepare for the entrance exam,” reads the letter written by Anubha Shrivastava Sahai, President IWPA.
