Decision on Bengaluru school reopening likely on Jan 29

If the cases are found to be stable in the city, the education department may consider reopening of schools, as the exams are approaching.

Bengaluru School Reopening: The government of Karnataka is expected to take a decision on the reopening of schools and colleges in Bengaluru city on January 29, 2022. The decision will be taken after reviewing the pandemic condition and the number of COVID-19 cases in the region. 

According to the IANS report, hinting at the reopening of schools in the city, State Education Minister BC Nagesh said, “Since COVID-19 cases are coming down in Bengaluru, I will seek an opinion in the cabinet on reopening of schools,” he told reporters.  It is expected that decision will be taken on reopening schools for Class 1 to 9 students.

If the cases are found to be stable in the city, the education department may consider reopening of schools, as the exams are approaching."If 1 to 9 standard classes are open, the education department is ready to conduct classes,” Minister Nagesh further added.

Karnataka reopened schools across the state on January 21, 2022, except for Bangalore. The city’s schools and colleges were closed down further to January 29. The decision on reopening will be made after a meeting with the COVID 19 Technical Advisory Committee. Hopes regarding the reopening of schools are rising as COVID cases in Bangalore have been stabilising this past week. 

Schools and colleges across the country are reopening as the count of the COVID-19 cases seemed to be stable in various states. Maharashtra government reopened all schools from January 24 and colleges will be reopening from February 1. Meanwhile, DDMA will be taking a decision on school reopening in Delhi in the next meeting.
