NID DAT 2023 Prelims Result (OUT), Live Update: Download Link, Scorecard, Merit List, Cut-Off

The weightage for the Studio Test and the Personal Interview for the current session will be notified shortly.

In the previous edition of the exam (NID DAT 2023), the Studio Test carried 40% weightage, while the Personal Interview carried 30% weightage.

The DAT Mains exam, which comprises the Studio Test and an Interview for the M.Des program, will be conducted in an offline mode. Also, the exam will be administered at the NID campuses; the candidate will be able to opt for a campus of their choice at the time of registration.

Note that the DAT Mains is conducted program-wise.

The Studio Test and Interviews for DAT Mains is being conducted in offline mode at the following NID Campuses.

• NID Gandhinagar campus
• NID Bengaluru Campus

The exam center details and timings of the exam will be mentioned on the DAT Mains admit card.

Candidates who have qualified for DAT Mains will have to register for the Studio Test and Interviews. The registration process is being conducted program-wise and commences on 8 am, March 20.

The candidate must check the exam schedule before getting registered and appearing in DAT Mains.

The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the discipline-wise exam schedule for the Studio Test and Interviews for the M.Des program.

The category- and course-wise DAT Prelims cutoff 2021 is given below; the scores mention are evaluated out of 100.

The National Institute of Design will release the final merit lists for Open, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories. 

The merit list will be prepared by considering the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate in DAT Mains and DAT Prelims. 

The common merit list will be generated in percentile form.

IIT Bombay will announce the results of the CEED 2023 exam on March 9, 2023. The CEED 2023 scores will be considered for admission to the M.Des program offered by participating institutes.

Note that, unlike UCEED, there will be no joint admission process for CEED 2023. Instead, the candidate has to apply directly to the participating institute based on their CEED 2023 scores.

IIT Bombay will declare the results for the UCEED 2023 exam on March 9, 2023. The UCEED 2023 entrance exam was conducted on January 22, 2023.

Scores of UCEED 2023 will be considered for admission to the B.Des program offered by participating institutes, which has a combined intake of 199 seats.

The different categories for which seats are reserved for the B.Des and M.Des programs are mentioned below.

The final results for the M.Des program will be announced on May 16, 2023 (4 pm). The final results would be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

The DAT Mains for the M.Des program includes a Studio Test and an Interview. Each component will carry a different weightage. The weightage for each component will be notified later.

The cut-off of NID DAT 2023 for the M.Des program is given below.

Admission to the NIDs is conducted in two stages. The candidate first appears in DAT Prelims. If the candidate gets shortlisted, then he or she next has to appear in the DAT Mains.

The final merit list will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains; the National Institute of Design hasn’t announced the weightage carried by each exam.

If the candidate fails to appear in DAT Mains, he/she will not be considered for admission.

Candidates who want to submit recheck requests for DAT Prelims will have to pay a fees of INR 2000 (per discipline). If the fee is not being paid, the recheck request will not be entertained.

The results for the B.Des program will be announced on March 30, 2023. The results would be declared online at admissions.nid.edu. 

The scores of DAT Prelims will be used to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains. Note that both exams are mandatory to be included in the NID DAT 2023 admission merit list.

The admission merit list will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will release two types of cut-offs. 

• DAT Prelims Cut-off: This cut-off would be released at the time of declaration of DAT Prelims results and will be used to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains. Meaning, candidates will be able to appear in DAT Mains only if they meet the cut-off marks in their respective categories.

Admission cut-off: The admission cut-off for the design programs is the last rank for which a candidate gets admission to the B.Des/M.Des program in their respective categories. Meaning, if a candidate doesn’t meet the cut-off, he or she will not get admission. The admission cut-off would be released at the time of counseling and seat allotment.

The DAT Mains exam for the B.Des program will be conducted from April 29-30, 2023. Candidates will be shortlisted for DAT Mains based on their performance in DAT Prelims.

The DAT Mains for B.Des program will include a Studio Test (no interviews will be conducted).

Candidates appearing in DAT Mains may consult the following books to prepare for the Studio Test.

The allotment of seats for the M.Des program will be conducted based on the NID DAT 2023 merit rank of the candidate. Note that, unlike the B.Des program, M.Des aspirants aren’t required to enter campus preferences.

The counseling process of NID DAT 2023 for the M.Des program will be conducted from May 16-19, 2023. Candidates who have been shortlisted for admission will have to pay the token fees and upload documents during this period to confirm their seats.

There is no fixed pattern for the Studio Test, as the main intention of the test is to evaluate the creative abilities of the candidate.

The test will examine whether you are able to imaginatively deal with a new situation and your design intelligence.

Yes, separate admit cards will be issued for candidates who get shortlisted for DAT Mains. Shortlisted candidates will be able to download the admit card from March 9, 2023, onward (4 pm).

Candidates who qualify DAT Prelims have to next appear in DAT Mains, which includes a Studio Test and an Interview.

During the Studio Test, the candidate will have to perform tasks like Doodling, Clay modeling, 3-D model making, Wire molding, Psychometric test, Thematic appreciation, and Story illustration.

The scores of NID DAT 2023 will be available for a period of one year from the date of the announcement of the results. 

The candidate will not be able to download the results after 1 year.

The answer sheets for the DAT exams will be available for a period of one year after the declaration of NID DAT 2023 results. The answer sheets will be made available only after the admission process is complete.

Requests for answer sheets during the process, however, will not be entertained.

The answer sheets will be made available to the candidate on request and payment of INR 1,000 (per exam). 

The answer sheets will be sent to the candidate within 15-20 days of receipt of the payment.

The National Institute of Design (NID) doesn’t release any answer keys; the question booklet is also not made available for candidates.

This is because the DAT exam question booklet is highly subjective.

10% of seats in each program will be reserved for candidates belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS). 

Candidates seeking admission under the EWS category need to produce an Income & Asset Certificate issued by any of the following competent authorities.

• District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner/ 1stClass Stipendiary Magistrate/ SubDivisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate/ Extra Assistant Commissioner

• Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar and 
• Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides

Note: The EWS certificate must be issued on or after 01 April 2022.

No, candidates under the Overseas (supernumerary) category will not be considered for admission to reserved category seats - GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories.

The M.Des in IT Integrated offers the following specializations:

The DAT Mains exam for the M.Des program will be conducted from March 20 to April 23, 2023. The details related to the exam center will be notified in the DAT Mains admit card.

The DAT Mains for the M.Des program will include a Studio Test and Interviews.

Admission to the design program at the NIDs is a two-stage process. The candidate first appears in DAT Prelims, and if shortlisted have to next appear in DAT Mains.

So, if qualify DAT Prelims, you have to next appear in DAT Mains. Or else, you will not be considered for admission.

The application process for NID DAT 2023 is now closed. Application forms for the entrance exam were open from October 21 - December 22 (regular); with late fees, applications were accepted up to December 25, 2023. 

Candidates who have any reservations against DAT Prelims results have to submit their requests online at admissions.nid.edu

The rechecking will be restricted to:

• Whether all the answers have been marked.
• Whether there has been any mistake in the totaling of marks for each question in Part II of the answer booklet and transferring the marks correctly onto the first cover page of the answer booklet.

The rechecking process will not involve a re-evaluation of any other aspect of the answer booklet. The fee to submit a recheck request is INR 2,000.

The M.Des in Interdisciplinary Design program offers the following two specializations:

1. Design for Retail Experience - 19 seats (Bengaluru Campus)
2. Strategic Design Management - 19 seats (Gandhinagar Campus)

The written exams for NIFT 2023 were conducted on February 5, 2023. The results of the written exams will be announced in March 2023. Note that the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) hasn’t given a specific date yet.

The following six disciplines are available for M.Des in Industrial Design:

2. Furniture and Interior Design
3. Product Design
4. Toy & Game Design
5. Transportation & Automobile Design
6. Universal Design 

In case two or more candidates secure the same marks in the exam, the following tie-breaking procedure will be used:

1. The candidate with higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part II/Part III) will be assigned a higher rank
2. The candidate with higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part I) will be assigned a higher rank.
3. If the tie still persists, both candidates will be assigned the same rank.

No, the DAT Prelims results for the M.Des program haven’t been released yet. As per the official notification, the results would be out by 4 pm.

Candidates who want to pursue the M.Des in Communication Design program can choose from the following disciplines:

1. Film and Video Communication 
2. Graphic Design
3. Animation Film Design
4. Photography Design

The M.Des is a two-and-a-half year-long master’s program offered at NID campuses in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Gandhinagar.

The program offers the following specializations:

5. Textile, Apparel, Lifestyle & Accessory Design

The final results for NID DAT 2023 will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

The weightage for the two exam components hasn’t been announced yet; it will be probably notified at the time of declaration of final results or sometime thereabout.

The NID DAT 2023 exam was held on January 8, 2023.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will release two merit lists.

1. DAT Prelims Merit list - This list will be prepared by considering NID DAT 2023 Prelims scores and will be used to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains.  
2. Final merit list - This list will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains exams. It will be used for counseling and seat allotment.

The DAT Mains 2023 exam for the M.Des program will be conducted from March 20 - April 23, 2023. Candidates who have qualified in DAT Prelims can appear in Mains.

The list of eligible candidates will be released shortly after the declaration of the DAT Prelims results.

To be considered for admission to the M.Des program at the NIDs, the candidate needs to meet the following criteria:

• Age limit: The candidate must be born on or after July 1, 1991
• Academic qualification: The candidate must have passed a four-year bachelor's degree in any specialization after 10 2 or completed a full-time diploma of minimum 4-year dutrationin Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard.

The program-wise seat intake for the B.Des and M.Des programs is as follows:

• B.Des - 425 seats
• M.Des - 347 seats.

Allotment of seats to the above programs will be based on NID DAT 2023 merit rank.

The participating institutes will offer admission to their B.Des and M.Des courses based on NID DAT 2023 scores. 

Currently, the B.Des program is offered at all the five participating NIDs:

The NID DAT 2023 (Prelims) exam was held on January 28, 2023. The exam was conducted for admission to both the B.Des and M.Des courses.
