The National Institute of Design doesn't usually release any official figures on the number of applicants.

The National Institute of Design (NID) has notified that it will verify the caste certificates post-conclusion of the DAT Prelims exam.

Note that the candidate had to upload caste documents when filling out the NID application form.

The 2nd stage of the NID Design Aptitude Test is DAT Mains. 

It is important that you safely preserve the admit cards for DAT Prelims duly signed by the invigilator and with the seal of the test center.  

It will be required if you want to recheck DAT Prelims results or download the answer sheet of NID DAT 2024.

The M.Des NID DAT 2024 eligibility criteria are given below.

The National Institute of Design will announce the NID DAT result date 2024 (prelims) for the Mdes on February 16, 2024.

If you qualify DAT Prelims, you will have to appear in DAT Mains, which will comprise a Studio Test and Personal Interview.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will declare the results of the B.Des DAT Prelims exam on March 28, 2024. Results can be checked online at admissions.nid.edu. 

Another student said that compared to the previous year, the question paper wasn't that lengthy. Both the GAT and drawing paper were not lengthy, the GAT was simple though. 

There were multiple questions on visual interpretation, statement questions, different forms of artwork, and material knowledge. 

The candidate expects the cut-off to higher than last year (50).

Shivani, who appeared for the B.Des program, said that she had an "OK" overall experience. According to her, the MCQ part was easy. There was a question about people living in the mountains, designer models, etc. 

However, she was not sure about the expected cut-off.

The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate.

The DAT Prelims exam has two parts. 

Part A was 15 minutes long, while 135 minutes were allotted for Part B which included 9 questions. Students also suggested that said that self-preparation is sufficient for NID.

A candidate who appeared in the M.Des exam said that the question paper was lengthy. Questions were mostly on the easier side, with the overall difficulty level above average.

Here is a NID DAT 2024 exam center where the DAT Prelims exam is conducted for the M.Des program. 

The DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des program is conducted from 10 am - 12.30 pm.

So, there is less than an hour before the exam concludes. Once the exam ends, we will start bringing inputs into the exam.

The NID exam is among the toughest design entrance exams conducted in the country. In NID DAT, more weightage is given to subjective, drawing-related questions. 

Consequently, you need to not only have a creative bent of mind but must also have a clear understanding of various concepts, and posses the skill set the use them for solving different types of problems. 

The application form for NID DAT 2024 is now closed. However, application forms for NIFT 2024 (which is another top design entrance exam), is currently open.

Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria may apply by January 3, 2024.

The National Institute of Design (NID) doesn't release any official answer keys for the DAT Prelims exam. So, the candidate has to make do with answer keys that may be released by unofficial sources.

The much-awaited NID DAT 2024 exam has just commenced ( at 10 am).

The exam is the 1st stage of the two-stage NID DAT entrance exam. Candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in DAT Mains.

The DAT Prelims exam will commence at 10 am.

The B.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 1 pm, while M.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 12.30 pm.

Note once the exam commences, no candidate can leave the exam hall until the exam is over.

The gates at the DAT Prelims exam center closed at 9.30 am.

No candidate is now allowed inside the exam center. So, any candidate who had the misfortune of arriving at the exam centre late, he or she will have to wait for the next edition of the design entrance exam.

The gates to the NID exam center 2024 will close at 9.30 pm. And once the gate closes, no candidate will be allowed inside the exam center. 

Gates at the NID DAT 2024 exam center will close at 9.30 am, which is 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam.

Any candidate who hasn't yet reached the exam center needs to hurry up. Note that no candidate will be allowed inside the exam centre once the gates closes.

There is no negative marking in DAT Prelims. So, even if you mark a wrong answer, no marks will be deducted.

The analysis of the DAT Prelims exam will be updated on this page as soon as the exam is over.

The gates of the NID DAT 2024 exam will close at 9.30 am (or 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam). So, if you get late, you might find yourself in a dicey situation!

So, better be on time.

The DAT Prelims exam will be conducted in an OMR-based (offline) mode. The exam will have two mandatory parts - Part I & Part II.

When answering the DAT Prelims question paper remember these points:

1. There is no negative marking in DAT Prelims.
2. Carefully go through the instructions given on the cover page before opening the question paper-cum-answer booklet.
3. You should ideally attempt the easy questions and secure sure-shot marks. Note that if you instead start with the difficult ones, you may get stuck, and consequently may not be able to complete the paper. If that happens, you may have to leave out easy questions. Further, under time pressure, you may also commit silly mistakes.
4. If you are not able to solve a problem, don't waste time. Instead, move to the next question. If there is time left at the end, you can come back and try it again.

The NID DAT Prelims exam will be conducted in an OMR-based mode. However, NID officials will not provide any stationery inside the exam hall. 

So, bring the following items with you:

• blue/black ball-point pen (for filling the OMR sheet)
• Scissor
• glue stick 
• lead pencil (of varying grades)
• colors (such as oil pastels/color pencils/sketch pens, etc.) 
• Eraser
• Sharpeners
• ruler etc.

The NID DAT 2024 (Prelims) will be conducted from 10 am today.

The exam for the B.Des program will be conducted from 10 am - 1 pm ( THREE hours duration). Meanwhile, the M.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 12.30 pm (2.30 hours duration).

The DAT Prelims exam will be conducted in an offline mode (OMR-based). The candidate will have to mark the OMR sheet using a blue/black ball-point pen

The question will have two sections - Part I and Part II. Both parts are mandatory.

The NID exam center will not have a baggage counter. So, the candidate is responsible for the safekeeping of their stuff. 

Also, NID officials will not take responsibility for any lost or damaged items.

Note that the candidate can’t leave the exam hall until the exam is over.

The NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) comprises the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

The candidate must appear in both Prelims and Mains.

Note that the NID DAT 2024 merit rank will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

The candidate is not allowed to leave the  NID DAT 2024 exam center until the exam is over.

This means that you will have to sit the entire 3 hours duration for the DAT Prelims exam for the B.Des program, and 2 hours 30 minutes for the M.Des program.

The candidate needs to report to the exam center at 8 am (December 24, 2023).

Note that the gates of the exam center will close 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam. So, if you get late, you may not be allowed to take the entrance exam.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will conduct the DAT Prelims exam in the following 22 cities. 

Note: The candidate had to select their choice of exam city at the time of filling out the NID application form.

The full form of NID DAT is the National Institute of Design Design Aptitude Test.

The Design Aptitude Test has two parts.

1. DAT Prelims 
2. DAT Mains

Candidates who get shortlisted based on the DAT Mains exam only are allowed to take the DAT Mains.

The participating colleges of NID DAT 2024 offer B.Des and M.Des courses.

There are 18 NIFTs that will participate in the NIFT admission process.

Admission to NID-participating colleges is conducted through the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT).

The National Institute of Design will release admit cards separately for DAT Mains.

The written exams for NIFT 2024 will be conducted on February 5, 2024.

The written exams include two papers - CAT and GAT. B.Des and M.Des candidates need to appear in both CAT and GAT, while those seeking admission to other courses only need to take the GAT.

There is no negative marking in DAT Prelims. This means, that even if you mark a wrong answer, no marks will be deducted.

Also, since there is no negative marking, you may attempt all the questions.

The candidate is not allowed to carry the Question-cum-Answer Booklet or any part of it outside the examination hall. 

Note that criminal proceedings may be brought against any candidate breaking this rule.

Yes, it is mandatory to bring a printed copy of the DAT Prelims admit card with you. Also, make sure that the information provided in the admit card is legible. Or else, the admit card may be rejected.

Note that the B.Des exam is of 3 hours duration.
