When should I begin preparing for the next rounds, such as the Situation Test or Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GDPI) rounds? What Happens After the NIFT 2025 Entrance Exam?

What Are the Further Stages in the NIFT Selection Process?

After successfully completing the written exam, candidates will go through additional rounds depending on the course they have applied for. Here is a breakdown of the stages involved:

  1. Stage I: Written Exam

This stage has already been concluded on February 5, 2024. If you’ve appeared for the exam, now it’s time to focus on the next stages. The written exam is the first step in the selection process.

  1. Stage II: Shortlisting for Situation Test/GDPI

The shortlisting for Stage II will be done based on a 1:4 ratio. This means that for each seat available, four students will be shortlisted to proceed to the next stage. The situation test and GDPI rounds will be conducted for the candidates who clear this phase.

  • The situation test is for candidates who have opted for the BDes program. This will evaluate your creativity and ability to handle materials in a specific situation.
  • GDPI rounds (Group Discussion and Personal Interview) will be conducted for candidates applying for the MDes, MFTech, and MFM programs.

What After the NIFT Exam 2025: Preparation Tips for Next Rounds

Q:   When do I need to start my preparation for NIFT 2025 exam?

A:

The NIFT exam is among the competitive and is also considered among the toughest. So, it is recommended that the candidate starts their exam preparation early. NIFT exam has various components like written exam and Situation Test /Personal Interview. Candidates seeking admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses need to prepare for both the CAT and GAT. The CAT is a drawing-based exam. Now unless the candidate is already well-versed, the exam will be very difficult. So, start early. The same goes for the GAT.

Q:   When will I be informed of my NIFT 2024 exam centre?

A:
The candidate will be able to check details about the NIFT 2024 exam centre allocated to them through the admit card. The NIFT admit card will contain the name and address of the exam centre allocated to the candidate, along with other details like exam-centre reporting time, exam timings, and instructions to be followed at the exam centre. The NIFT 2024 entrance exam will be conducted tentatively in the 1st week of February 2024. The admit cards will be released a few week before that. Note that on the day of the NIFT exam, the candidate needs to mandatory bring with them the admit card and a valid photo id proof.

Q:   When will the NIFT 2025 entrance exam be conducted?

A:

The written tests for the NIFT 2025 exam will be held on February 9, 2025. The detailed schedule has also been released.

The written tests will comprise a General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT). GAT is mandatory for all candidates, but CAT is only required for B. Des and M. Des candidates. 

The GAT test will be considered in a computer-based mode, whereas the CAT will be offline based. Note that scores of the written exams will be used to shortlist candidates for a Situation Test/ Personal Interview.
