The application form for UCEED and CEED 2024 is now closed. The UCEED application form is for admission to the B.Des program, while the CEED is for admission to the M.Des program.

CEED and UCEED 2024 exams will be held on January 21, 2024 (9 am - 12 noon).

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) hasn't yet updated the admission portal for the upcoming session. The website currently previous year's exam dates, admission brochure, and admission guidelines.

The NIFT entrance exam is conducted in two stages.

B.Des and M.Des candidates first have to take the CAT and GAT papers. If shortlisted, they have to appear in a Situation Test/ PI. Note that M.F.Tech and M.F.M candidates only need to take the GAT followed by the PI.

There is no fixed number as to how many mock tests one must take for NIFT 2024. In fact, you are the best person to decide how many mock tests are enough for you. 

Also, note that mock tests are usually taken closer to the exam. In the early stages of exam preparation, you need to solve sample papers.

The NIFT entrance exam is easily one of the most competitive entrance exams in the country. So, you must ideally start your preparation early, say with around 6 months or so in hand. 

The exam has various components like a written exam and a Situation Test /Personal Interview. 

The CAT is a drawing-based exam, meaning the candidate will be evaluated on parameters like intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development, and design ability.

NIFT sample papers can be solved very early on in one’s exam preparation. For example, you can start solving sample papers after completing a topic.

Once you complete a topic, find the questions related to that topic in the sample paper and solve them.

Yes, sample papers are a crucial part of the NIFT exam preparation process. If you don’t solve sample papers, you might not learn the various concepts as you need to and also lag behind as far as problem-solving ability is concerned.

The NIFT Situation Test is a hands-on test that includes model making. The candidate will be provided material inside the exam hall; the candidate is not allowed to carry any personal items inside the exam hall. 

The Situation Test will be evaluated on the spot. It is mandatory for the candidate to draft a write-up explaining the model.

It is not compulsory to have Maths in Class 12 to be eligible for NIFT 2024. 

Note that the NIFT 2024 question paper may have some questions from Mathematics in the GAT written exam. So, it is beneficial to have some knowledge about the subject.

If there are unfilled seats in OBC (NCL), EWS, and domicile (Open) and domicile (OBC NCL) categories, these seats will be converted to open category after a minimum of two rounds of seat allocation.

The NIFT situation test will evaluate parameters like Colour scheme, Space visualization, Construction skill, Finesse of the model, Composition of elements, Overall presentation, Innovative and creative use of given material, etc. The Situation Test will be evaluated on the spot.

Admission to the B.Des and M.Des courses at the NIDs will be through the NID Entrance Exam 2024.

The exam is conducted in two stages:

1. DAT Prelims
2. DAT Mains - Only shortlisted candidates will be eligible to appear in DAT Mains.

The application forms for the UCEED and CEED 2024 are currently open with late fees of INR 500. The last date to fill out the form with the late fee is November 20, 2023.

The application form for the NLEA category will be released alongside the NIFT application form for regular UG/PG programs.

Note that in the previous edition (NIFT 2023), the application form opened on November 1, 2022.

Any updates on the NIFT 2024 exam syllabus for the written exams and the Situation Test/ Personal Interview will only be known once the exam notification is released.

That being said, it is unlikely that any major changes will be made to the current syllabus.

The number of questions asked in the GAT paper for each course is given below. 

• BDes: 100 questions 
• BFTech: 150 questions 
• MDes: 120 questions 
• MFTech: 150 questions 
• MFM: 150 questions 

The GAT paper will be conducted in a computer-based mode. Questions will be objective-type. The GAT paper for the B. Des and M. Des programs will be of 120 minutes. However, the GAT paper for the B.FTech M.FTech, and MFM courses will be for 180 minutes.

B.Des candidates will be shortlisted for the Situation Test based on their performance in the written exams.

Note that candidates seeking admission to Master's courses have to take a Personal Interview, instead of the Situation Test. 

The Situation Test will evaluate the “material handling and the innovative ability” of the candidate.

The test will examine aspects like “Space Visualization, Innovative and creative use of given material, the composition of elements, color scheme, construction skill, the finesse of the model and overall presentation, etc.

The test pattern for the Creative Ability Test is given below.

• Mode of the exam: The CAT is a pencil-and-paper-based exam that will be held offline,
• Duration: 3 hours
• Skills evaluated: Intuition skill, power of observation, innovation in the development of a concept as well as design ability of the candidate. It will also test the creative as well as innovative use of color and illustration skills of aspirants.

Yes, there is a negative marking in the GAT paper.

For every wrong attempt, the candidate will be penalized 25% marks. So, when attempting the GAT paper, the candidate needs to be judicious.

Note that in contrast, there is no negative marking for the CAT test.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will assign fresh exam centres for the Situation Test and Personal Interview.

Note that the Situation Test/ PI will only be conducted for candidates who get shortlisted based on their written exam scores.

In the previous edition, the NIFT exam was conducted in 37 cities.

Note that NIFT official reserves the right to add a new city, or drop a city (cities) from the existing list. The updated list of exam centers will be notified at the time of the release of the application form.

The written exams for NIFT 2024 will be conducted in 37 cities. When filling out the form, the candidate will have the option to select only an exam city; however, one can’t select an exam center.

Instead, the exam center will be allocated to the candidate based on the city selected.

If you forget the NIFT login credentials, you can reset the password from the online admission portal by following the steps given below:

1. Go to the NIFT registration portal
2. Click on “Password reset”
3. Enter the details asked in the password reset form
4. Reset the password.

Note that if your registered email ID and mobile number have changed then you need to update NID officials. After verification of the new email and mobile number, the support team will restore your credentials.

There is no option to pay the application fee for NIFT 2024 using the demand draft. Only online payment will be accepted.

The payment has to be made using an online payment gateway. NIFT 2024 application fee for the general category is INR 3,000, and INR 1,500 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.

Changing one’s category in the application form

If the candidate selects an incorrect category when filling out the application form, the candidate can make the necessary corrections during the application correction window.

Any additional payment incurred as a change in category has to be made through the online payment gateway. However, it must be noted no refund will be given to the candidate if the candidate selects the wrong category.

Using the correction window, the candidate can edit the following information:

• Date or birth
• State Domicile
• Category
• Gender
• Nationality
• Present Address
• Photograph/ Signature
• Qualification
• Make fee payment
• Mobile number

However, the candidate won’t be able to change the test city.

The name and address of the exam center allocated to the candidate will be mentioned in the NIFT 2024 admit card. 

In addition, the admit card will also have the exam center reporting time, exam-day guidelines, etc.

The candidate won’t be able to select any specific exam centre as such when filling out the NIFT application form.

Instead, they will have to select an exam city. Note that each exam city may have one or more exam centres.

The allotment of exam centres will be based on the seat intake and the address details entered by the candidate.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will conduct the NFT 2024 entrance exam in 37 cities across the country. 

The candidate will be able to select their choice of exam city at the time of filling out the application form.

Admission to the B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses at the NIFTs will be through the NIFT 2024 entrance exam.

Depending on the program of study, the exam will have the following components.

• B.Des - CAT and GAT written exams followed by a Situation Test. The final result will be prepared considering the written exam and Situation Test scores.
• M.Des - CAT and GAT written exams followed by Personal Interview. The final result will be prepared giving weightage to the written exam and Personal Interview.
• M.F.M and M.F.Tech - GAT written exam followed by a Personal Interview. The final result will be prepared based on GAT and the Personal interview.
• B.F.Tech - The final result will be based strictly on GAT scores.

The GAT paper is mandatory for all the programs. The GAT test will be conducted in a computer-based mode across various centers in the country.

The attempt the exam, the candidate needs a basic understanding of handling computers. Advanced knowledge of computer software is not required.

GAT will include objective-type questions and be available in English and Hindi languages.

The candidate is urged to keep the following documents ready before proceeding to register for NIFT 2024.

There will be reservations of seats for various categories as per the criteria given in the table below..

Foreign Nationals/NRI (whether residing in India or abroad), and Non-Resident Indians are not required to appear in the NIFT 2024 exam.

Instead, the merit list for such candidates will be prepared based on SAT/ GMAT/GRE scores.

The seat intake for NRI/Foreign category candidates is given below: 

• 5 (supernumerary) seats each per academic program at NIFT Campuses Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar & Raebareli. 
• 3 (supernumerary) seats each per academic program at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Patna, Panchkula, Shillong and Daman.

NRI candidates need to meet the following eligibility criteria for admission.

• Age limit: For UG programs, the candidate should be no more than 24 years as of 1st August of the admission year. For PG programs, there is no age limit.
• Academic qualification: The candidate must meet the required academic qualifications for these courses. If the Degree/Certificate has been obtained from a University /Board of any country other than India then an equivalence certificate must be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) New Delhi.
• The candidate must also possess working knowledge of the English language. The candidate must also appear for SAT/GMAT/ GRE examination before applying for admission.
• If the candidate has appeared in multiple SAT / GMAT/GRE examinations prior to April 30, 2024, then the highest score will be taken into consideration. Note that GRE/ GMAT/SAT scores should not have been declared before January 1, 2022, and should be received by the Institute (NIFT) latest by April 30, 2024.

To be eligible for the NLEA admission scheme, the candidate needs to have completed a Diploma in relevant/related fields of Design and technology.

NLEA stands for NIFT Lateral Entry Admission. Under the Lateral Entry Admission scheme, the candidate will be considered for directly to the third semester of UG programmes.

Note that candidates seeking admission under this scheme must apply under NLEA when filling out the application form.

B.F.Tech candidates may note that they aren’t required to take the Creative Ability Test (CAT). The merit list for the program will be prepared solely based on GAT scores.

Further, there will be no Situation Test/ Personal Interviews for the B.F.Tech program.

Yes, the NIFT 2023 admission process is complete.

The seat allotment for NIFT 2023 was conducted in 7 regular rounds. This was followed by multiple spot rounds. 

Note that spot rounds are conducted wherein vacant seats are left after regular rounds. Also, during the spot round, seats are typically allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The NIFT exam syllabus is quite extensive. So, to do holistic preparation you will ideally need 6 months or so.

But that being said, if your fundamentals are strong and you are willing to put in the required effort, stay disciplined, and use your time smartly, you can definitely prepare for NIFT 2024 in much less time. 

So, if you are starting your preparation now, just get going without any delay.

The application form for UCEED 2024 is currently open with a late fee. The last date to apply with late fees is November 20, 2023. The last date to apply with a regular fee was November 13, 2023.

The UCEED 2024 exam will be held on January 21, 2024 (9 am - 12 noon). The exam will be administered in a center-based mode. 

The exam will have two parts. Part A will be 2 hours long and conducted in a computer-based mode. Meanwhile, Part B will be conducted in offline mode.

There are 18 participating institutes of NIFT 2024 that will offer a combined intake of 5,215 seats.

Among the total intake, 4324 are All-India, 405 state-docmicile, and 470 NRI seats. 

Note that the allotment of seats will be as per the NIFT 2024 merit rank.

When filling out the NIFT 2024 application form, the candidate must refrain from using incorrect or counterfeit data. Note that the information entered by the candidate in the application form will be verified at the time of NIFT counseling 2024.

Any candidate found to be using misleading or counterfeit information may be disqualified.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology allows candidates to apply for NIFT 2024 with a late fee once the regular application form closes.

The late fee for NIFT is INR 5000. 

So, it is recommended that the candidate apply within the regular window. 

The application form for NIFT 2024 will open at niftadmissions.in. The candidate will have to fill out the form in online mode only.

There is no option to apply offline. Also, note that if the candidate somehow downloads the application form and submits the form offline, it will not be accepted.

The application fee of NIFT 2024 for the General, OBC (Non-Creamy), and GEN-EWS category candidates is INR 3000; note that SC, ST, and PwD candidates only need to pay INR 1,500.

The candidate will have to pay the application fee at the time of filling out the application form.

Note that if the candidate selects the wrong category, then the applicable application fee will also be shown incorrectly. So, it is important to correctly select one's category.

Candidates seeking admission to design courses at NIFT participating colleges need to mandatorily take the NIFT entrance exam.
