42 IIT Roorkee scholars selected for Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship

The PMRF Scheme has been designed to improve the quality of research in various higher educational institutions in the country. It seeks to attract the best talent in research.  

As many as 42 PhD scholars working in various interdisciplinary research and development areas at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee have been selected for the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) in the May 2022 cycle. 

IIT Roorkee tweeted, “42 students from @iitroorkee have been selected for the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship #PMRF Scheme (May 2022, cycle-9) for PhD. The PhD scholars are currently working in various areas of interdisciplinary research and development.” 

The 42 students who have been selected for PMRF are Shreya Shukla, Sudhanshu Dixit, Adwaita Sr Nair, Salunke Akshaykumar, Antra Choubey, Diksha Vats, Pushpender, Abhitesh Sachdeva, Ashwini Tiwari, Dikshant Bodana, Riya Verma, Sneha, Ashish Kumar, Abhishek Srivastava, Aatreyee Saha, Mohd Sharique Siddiqui, Rahul Pawar, Pulak Biswas, Shivam Gupta, Adyasha Sahoo, Soumya Ranjan Das, Kaintura Aradhana Jabbar Singh Ranjana, Smriti Singh, Harshit Tiwari, Ayush Agrawal, Loknath Barik, Prashant Kumar, Shyam Kishore Sharma, Harsha Rajput, Neduri Jagadeesh, Rohit Gahlot, Ram Kumar Deshmukh, Harishankar Suman, Samaresh Ghosh, Ankita Saha, Akanksha, Anson Thomas, Himanshu Chauhan, Tarun, Anushka Joshi and Aniruddha Saha. 

What is PMRF scheme?  

The PMRF Scheme has been designed to improve the quality of research in various higher educational institutions in the country. The scheme seeks to attract best talent in research, thereby realising the vision of development through innovation.   

The scheme was announced in the 2018-19 Budget. The institutes that can offer PMRF include all IITs, all Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and some of the top central universities/National Institutes of Technology (NITs) that offer science and/or technology degrees. The candidates are selected through a rigorous selection process and their performance is reviewed through a national convention time to time.
