BITS Pilani and Iowa State University to offer Dual Degree UG and PG Programs
The objective of this agreement is to facilitate qualified engineering students from BITS Pilani to transfer to Iowa State University for cooperative Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. programs
BITS Pilani and Iowa State University of Science and Technology in the USA announced their partnership to launch a Two-Plus-Two (2+2) undergraduate Shared Degree Program and shared graduate degree programs both at master’s and Ph.D. level.
This agreement will facilitate qualified students from BITS Pilani transferring to Iowa State for a cooperative Bachelor of Science (B.S) program in engineering. This "2+2" program allows students to complete their initial two years at BITS Pilani and seamlessly transition to Iowa State for the remaining two years. Likewise, it will offer pathways for graduate students to pursue research-based, collaborative degree programs at both institutions.
Every year, BITS Pilani will propose qualified students for these programs. Iowa State will make the final admission choices. Students who complete the requirements for their respective programs will get degrees from both institutions. With a primary objective of delivering outstanding educational experiences, Iowa State will provide the same resources and services to students of BITS Pilani as it provides to other Iowa State students.
Speaking about the development, Prof Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani said, “This agreement not only marks a significant milestone in international academic collaboration but also emphasizes the commitment of both institutions to providing students with a global perspective and a well-rounded education.”
Samuel Easterling, the James L. and Katharine L. Melsa Dean of Engineering, Iowa State said, “BITS Pilani brings with it a rich heritage of innovation and intellectual rigor, complementing Iowa State University's commitment to cutting-edge research and education. Together, we hope to give students an exceptional, fulfilling educational experience that goes beyond borders. This collaboration has enormous potential to produce world-class leaders who will influence engineering and related subjects in the future.”
