BITS Pilani has introduced a PhD program called IMPACT (Industry Mentored PhD in Advanced and Cutting-edge Technologies). This initiative aims to recognise and reward professionals for their innovative contributions while promoting academia-industry collaborations to stimulate innovation. The program allows professionals to undertake high-impact research in partnership with BITS Pilani, leading to the attainment of a PhD.

Who are eligible for BITS Pilani PhD IMPACT?

Interested candidates must hold an equivalent degree with a minimum aggregate of 60% in their qualifying exam. They should also be employed by a company that will actively participate in the BITS Pilani PhD program. This involvement includes identifying industry challenges, assigning corporate mentors, and providing financial backing for the project.

About BITS Pilani PhD IMPACT Program

The PhD IMPACT program contains diverse domains of science and technology, such as AI/ML, data science, NLP, cybersecurity, robotics, 3D printing applications, sensor development, IoT, cyber-physical systems, antennas, microwave communications, natural and renewable energy, energy storage, efficient energy transfer, green chemistry, catalysis, methane production, carbon capture, drug discovery, drug delivery, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics.

This program stands out due to several significant factors. Companies have the opportunity to enrol their employees or sponsor new PhD students who will receive joint mentorship from BITS professors and industry scientists. Participants engage in real-world problem-solving, tackling challenges identified by multinational corporations and other entities. These innovative initiatives encourage companies to propose specific problem statements for PhD research, fostering the development of effective solutions that mutually benefit scholars and organisations.
