Form task force to ensure placements are not affected due to Covid-19: HRD to IITs

In light of the nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic, the human resource development ministry has directed all the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) to form a task force.

In light of the nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic, the human resource development ministry has directed all the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) to form a task force. The order has been made taking into consideration the anxiety among students of various technical institutes including IITs and other eminent institutes. It has been found that a number of large corporates and multinational companies have shown their diffidence due to the crisis arising out of the countrywide lockdown. A lot of companies have reflected their pessimism regarding the future discourse of their recruitment process. They are not really interested to hire students during the lockdown.

Include psychologists in task force to address mental health challenges: HRD to IITs

Apart from this, the human resource development ministry has directed IITs to also include psychologists in the task force to address mental health challenges faced by students during the lockdown. The ministry was getting information pertaining to the mental health problems of a number of students. The ministry got to know that the lockdown has increased the pessimism among students regarding their future discourse. Amid the lockdown, they had their own set of anxiousness and problems.

For the last two weeks, India has been going through a nationwide lockdown to evade the coronavirus pandemic. So far, India has witnessed more than 1,700 COVID-19 cases. As of now, 40 people have died due to the deadly virus.
