GATE 2023 February 5 Live Updates: Question Paper, Answer Key, Paper Analysis

The next GATE 2023 exam will be held on February 11. In shift 1, candidates will be appearing for GG, IN, MA, PE, XE, and XL papers and in shift 2 candidates will appear for AE, AG, BT, CH, EY, GE, MT, NM, PH, PI, and TF papers.

• Paper was moderate to tough.
• Topics asked were: General Aptitude, EM, network, control system, analog circuit, signal and system, digital circuit, electromagnetic, communication, and electronic devices.

Distribution of questions were as follows:

GATE 2023 shift 2 exam today, eds ay 5:30 pm.

• Difficulty level of the paper was moderate to tough.

• General Aptitude questions were easy.

• GATE shift 2 ME paper had 6 MSQ, 35 MCQ and 24 NAT.

• The question paper of GATE ME had a high weightage of Engineering Mechanics, SOM, Industrial, Manufacturing and HMT.

• 3 questions in the GATE question paper ME were asked from Power Plant.

GATE 2023 exam will have a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks, out of which 10 questions carrying a total of 15 marks will be of General Aptitude (GA). In the papers bearing the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE, the General Aptitude and Engineering Mathematics will carry around 28% of the total marks and the remaining 72% of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper. In the papers bearing the codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, XH and XL, the General Aptitude section will carry 15% of the total marks and the remaining 85% of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper.

Step 2: A new page of the GOAPS website will appear where candidates have to enter their Enrollment ID and Password to log in

Step 3: After logging in, GATE admit card 2023 will be displayed on the screen

Step 4: Check all the details mentioned on the admit card carefully

Step-5: In case all details are correct, download it and take multiple coloured printouts for future reference

GATE 2023 CBT has now begun. This shift will end at 5:30 pm. In this shift the papers being held ar BM, CY, and EC.

GATE 2023 second shift will start soon now. Check these guidelines:

• Candidates must report to the exam centre as per the date and time mentioned on the admit card
• It is advised that candidates reach the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the commencement of exam the exam to facilitate frisking at the centre
• Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall after the commencement of paper
• No candidate will be allowed to leave the exam centre before the conclusion of the exam
• Students are not allowed to carry their personal calculators. Virtual scientific calculators will be available on the computer screen

The counselling will be conducted by COAP for admission to the MTech courses offered by IITs and CCMT for admission to MTech programmes offered by NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and CFTIs. Eligible candidates need to participate in the GATE 2023 counselling as per schedule. The counselling process incorporates various stages like registration, choice filling, choice locking, seat allotment, document verification, etc. After going through these stages successfully, candidates will get admission to an institute.

After the evaluation of the answers, the actual (raw) marks obtained by a candidate will be considered for computing the GATE Score. For multi-session papers (subjects), raw marks obtained by the candidates in different sessions will be converted to Normalized marks for that particular subject. Thus, raw marks (for single-session papers) or normalized marks (for multi-session papers) will be used for computing the GATE Score, based on the qualifying marks.

GATE 2023 result will be released on March 16, 2023. The results will be released by the GATE Conducting Authority on its official website. The GATE 2023 official scorecard will be released after 3 or 4 days of the declaration of the final result of the GATE 2023 Examination. 

Candidates can download the answer key with the help of the following steps

• Open the official website gate.iitk.ac.in
• Click on GATE 2023 answer key link
• Select the GATE 2023 paper code
• Download the answer key and take its printout

IIT Kanpur will release the GATE response sheets on February 15. Candidates will be able to download the GATE 2023 response sheet online from the website gate.iitk.ac.in. Response sheets are printed copies of candidates marked answers during the GATE 2023 exam.

The shift 1 exam for today's GATE 2023 session is over. Shift 2 will start at 2:30. Papers to be held in shift 2 are BM, CY, EC.

Many public sector undertakings like ONGC, SAIL, BHEL, GAIL, and Indian Oil recruits Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) on the basis of GATE scores. Advertisements for PSU recruitment through GATE 2023 are published generally around the declaration of GATE results.

The GATE 2023 cutoff will be announced by the exam conducting authority soon after the result. The cutoff/ qualifying marks are the minimum marks required by the candidates to for the counselling and seat allotment process. The answer key for GATE 2023 will be released on February 21.  IIT Kanpur will first release the GATE 2023 provisional answer key which will also be open for challenge. Candidates not satisfied with the answer key can submit their challenge from February 22 to 25.

GATE question papers 2023 will be available for download on the official website. Various coaching institutes will also release the memory-based GATE 2023 question paper after the completion of the exam. 

The GATE 2023 admit card download link has been enabled at GOAPS 2023 Login. To download the GATE hall ticket 2023, candidates will need to login to the GOAPS portal gate.iitk.ac.in using their Enrollment ID/Email ID and password.  It is mandatory for the candidates to carry their GATE Admit card 2023 to the test centre. Candidates' identification proof will also be required to appear for the exam. Hence, the candidates need to carry their GATE hall ticket 2023 to the exam centre along with an original and valid ID proof.

For a valid photo ID, candidates can bring any of the government IDs such as a Passport, Driving license, Aadhaar UID, PAN Card, Valid College ID, Employee Identification Card, Voter ID etc. Foreign students are required to get only a valid Passport/Government issued ID/College ID/Employee ID as a valid and recognized ID.

GATE shift 1 exam has started. This shift will end at 12:30 pm and the next shift will begin at 2:30 pm.

• GATE, conducted for admission to masters programmes and for recruitment to some public sector companies, is held as an online computer-based test. The exam is conducted for a total of 100 marks, and the score is valid for three years after the results are announced. 
• The GATE 2023 paper will be of objective type comprising three patterns of questions -- multiple choice questions (MCQs), multiple select questions (MSQs), and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. 
• Marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer in an MCQ, however there will be no negative marking for wrong answers marked in MSQs or NATs.

• The candidates are advised not to wear any clothes made of metallic items, or buttons.

GATE 2023 shift1 exam for EE, ES, XH ill start at 9:30 am. The shift 1 exam will then conclude at 12:30 pm.

To download the GATE 2023 admit card, candidates will have to follow the steps:

• Click on the GATE admit card 2023 download link

• Login using the GATE enrollment id and password

• Upon successful GATE 2023 login, the admit card will be displayed on the screen

Physical calculators, mobile phones, any other electronic/communication devices, wallets, books, papers, loose sheets, data or handbooks, tables, pen/pencil box/pouch, watches of any form etc. are strictly prohibited in exam halls and candidates possessing these (even if not using) will be disqualified.

The GATE result 2023 date is March 16. IIT Kanpur will release the GATE 2023 result online on the official website gate.iitk.ac.in.

The GATE 2023 scribe must not be a candidate for a test paper in GATE exam. According to the Government of India (GoI) guidelines, in case the candidates have opted to bring their Scribe, then the qualification of the Scribe should be one step below the qualification of the candidates taking the examination. If PwD / Dyslexic candidate have opted for their own scribe but they do not bring their own Scribe then it will not be possible to arrange a new Scribe. No honorarium will be paid to the scribe arranged by the PwD / Dyslexic candidate.

In GATE 2023 exam, there will be a negative marking for a wrong answer chosen in a multiple-choice question. For one mark MCQ, 0.33 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer and for two mark MCQ, 0.66 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.

The GATE 2023 hall ticket can be downloaded with the candidate's enrollment id and password from the official website- gate.iitk.ac.in.

Each GATE 2023 paper is for a total of 100 marks. The General Aptitude (GA) is common for all papers (15 marks) and the rest of the paper covers the remaining GATE syllabus (85 marks).

The GATE 2023 exam will be conducted for 29 papers. The GATE syllabus 2023 is divided into two parts- General Aptitude and Core Discipline. The General Aptitude section is common in all with a weightage of 15 per cent marks. While the remaining 85 per cent is for topics from Core Discipline. 

Mobile phones, physical calculators, wallets, watches of any type, any electronic or communicating devices, books, papers, loose sheets, USBs, pen, pencil box, pouch and any other similar items are not permitted inside the hall. 

The NPTEL GATE portal hosts video lectures covering a wide range of subjects covering the entire GATE syllabus across Engineering and Science disciplines. To enable easy access, all the topics of GATE syllabus are mapped and linked to the most relevant NPTEL video lecture(s). These NPTEL lectures are mapped to various topics of the GATE Syllabus.

GATE 2023 February 4 shift 2 paper will start at 2:30 pm. The exam will be of 3 hours duration and they consist of 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. Since the GATE 2023 examination is a computer-based test (CBT), at the end of the stipulated time (3-hours), the computer screen will automatically close the examination inhibiting any further action.

According to the GATE negative marking system, for a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be negative marking. For one-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer and for two-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. However, there is no negative marking for wrong answers to MSQ and NAT questions.

• Before entering the examination hall, go through the important formulas and notes once.

• Always, attempt those questions which you are confident and can solve in less time.

• If a question is taking more than 3 minutes, just skip to the next question and come back to it later.

• Be careful while selecting options as it is an online-based examination. Any changes will not be allowed once submitted.

A virtual scientific calculator will be available on the computer screen during the GATE 2023 exam. Personal calculators, any type of watches, wallets, mobile phones, or any electronic / communication devices are not allowed inside the exam hall. Moreover, candidates should not carry any charts / tables / papers into the exam hall. A scribble pad will be provided to the candidates for rough work. Candidates have to mention their name and registration number on the scribble pad before using it. The scribble pad must be returned to the invigilator at the end of the exam.

GATE admit card 2023 is available at gate.iitk.ac.in. Candidates can also download their GATE 2023 admit card from GOPAS login using their enrollment/email ID and password.
