Once the payment is successful, candidates will be redirected to the application form portal, where they can download a PDF copy of the GATE exam form. Before making the payment, candidates must check their internet connectivity to avoid glitches or technical issues. After making the payment, candidates must keep a copy of the transaction status from the bank account to track their payment status. 

Candidates belonging to the SC/ST category must submit their category certificate when filling out the GATE application form. The GATE registrations has started on August 28, 2024 at the GOAPS portal. 

The Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted only once a year. Candidates who want to pursue a master's or any higher degree program in engineering/technology/humanities/science/architecture or any other discipline can apply for GATE.

IIT Roorkee has announced the GATE exam dates on the official website. The exam will be conducted in two sessions- Morning (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and Afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). The scheduled dates for the GATE examination is February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025.

Candidates willing to appear for the GATE exam 2025 have the right to choose any option. However, they must select the GATE test paper in a way that aligns with the qualifying degree. For example, if a candidate has graduated with a civil engineering degree, he/she must opt for the GATE CE test paper.

The GATE 2025 counselling process consists of three regular rounds, two special rounds (SR), and a national spot round (NSR). CCMT conducts the process from June to July in six rounds. GATE authorities have provided a marking scheme for GATE examination. Candidates can check the GATE marking scheme below -

• Each question may carry one or two marks, respectively.
• There is also negative marking for wrong answers. For a one-mark MCQ, a 1/3 mark is deducted for an incorrect answer. On the other hand, for a two-mark MCQ, a 2/3 mark is deducted for the wrong answer. 
• There is no negative marking for MSQ and NAT-type questions.

A valid GATE scorecard can be used for the following -

• Many PSUs, such as GAIL, NALCO, AAI, etc., accept GATE scorecards for recruitment.

The MCQs have negative markings for incorrect responses. For a 1-mark question, if the answer is incorrect, then 1/3rd mark will be deducted. In the same way, for a two-mark question, 2/3rd mark will be deducted for the incorrect response.

Candidates have to submit only one application form. The choice for exam test paper selection can be made during the gate application form process.

The specifications for uploading a signature in the GATE application form are as follows -

• The signature must be in JPEG/JPG format
• The candidate’s signature must be in black or dark blue ink
• The ideal file size must be between 5 kb - 200 kb
• The signature must be 160 x 560 pixels at the maximum size and 80 x 280 pixels at the minimum size.
• The signature must be mentioned clearly and written inside the box.

Candidates can upload their photographs through the GOAPS portal. The specifications for uploading the photograph for GATE application are as follows -

• A recent photograph of passport size (3.5 cm width x 4.5 cm height) with a face covering 60 to 70% of the photograph with a white background
• The candidate’s face must be facing directly to the camera. It should not be covered with goggles, hats, caps, etc.
• The image must be in JPG/JPEG format, with an aspect size ratio between 0.66 to 0.89
• The minimum file size of the photograph must be between 5 kb to 1 MB.
• The maximum pixel resolution is 530 x 690 pixels, and the minimum pixel resolution is 200 x 260 pixels.

After making the payment, candidates must keep the receipt for future purposes. 

IIT Roorkee will open the GATE application form correction facility after completing the registration process. The facility allows candidates to make changes to their forms. The GATE application form correction window will open on November 6, 2024. To make changes, candidates must visit the GOAPs portal, make the necessary changes within the stimulated time, and submit.

GATE registrations will start online at the GOAPS portal. Candidates who want to apply for GATE 2025 must visit the official website—gate2025.iitr.ac.in—and click the application form link. After clicking the application link, candidates will be redirected to the GATE application window. They must register and log in using the credentials created during registration. After logging in, candidates must provide their personal, educational, GATE exam test, and communication details. After entering all the details, they must upload the required documents and pay the application fees. Once the payment is successful, they must confirm the declaration page and submit the GATE application form. 

During the GATE application form-filling process, candidates must ensure they provide the right documents and keep all the documents ready. Here is the list of documents required at the time of filling out the GATE application form -

• Valid photo identity proof, such as Voter ID, Passport, Aadhar card, Driving License, School ID, etc. The valid photo ID must have the candidate’s name, a unique registration ID number and other related information. For verification purposes, the candidate must provide the same identity proof during the examination. 
•  Category (SC/ST) certificate. OBC-NCL and EWS candidates are not required to submit or upload any category certificate while filling out the GATE application form. 
• PwD certificate 
• Dyslexia certificate 
• Recent passport-size photograph
• Signature of the candidate

The GOAPS portal will be active on the official website on August 28, 2025, for GATE registrations. Candidates can apply and submit their GATE application form through the GOAPS portal.

IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) accepts GATE scores of the following test papers -

IIT Roorkee will conduct the GATE 2025 online admission exam on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. The exam will be conducted online in different exam cities across India. The application fee for the GATE exam form for female candidates during the regular period (until September 26, 2024) is INR 900. On the other hand, the application fee for female GATE applicants during the extended period (until October 7, 2024) is INR 1400/-. Candidates can pay through net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI.

In the GATE architecture and planning, 11450 candidates had registered for the exam, out of which only, 9080 candidates appeared. The cutoff (category-wise) for architecture and planning is as follows -

• OBC-NCL/EWS - 37.3 and 
• SC/ST/PwD - 27.6

The GATE 2025 hall ticket is an important document that must be carried out during the examination. It is a mandatory document that contains complete information regarding the applicant and the examination. IIT Roorkee will release the GATE hall ticket on January 2, 2025 on its official website. Candidates can download the GATE exam hall ticket through the GATE GOAPS portal. The credentials required to download are the enrollment ID and password.

The GATE application form correction facility will open on November 6, 2024. Candidates who have successfully submitted the application form can make corrections if required. The form correction facility allows candidates to change their GATE application form within a period.
