GATE COAP 2024: Offer Selection & Seat Allocation

Candidates can view the offers made to them on the COAP portal during the counseling round period. Candidates can see details of each offer and evaluate them based on their preferences, such as program specialization, career growth, etc. Candidates get three options to choose from for an offer.

Accept and Freeze:

  •  if a candidate selects 'Accept & Freeze' it means he/she is willing to accept one of the available offers and does not want to be considered for upgrading to higher preferences.
  • Candidates selecting this option will not be considered in the subsequent rounds of admission.

Retain and Wait:

  •  if a candidate selects 'Retain & Wait' it means he/she is willing to accept one of the available offers, however, he/she wants to be considered for upgrading to higher preferences.
  •  Candidates selecting this option will not be considered for the other rejected offers in the current round.
  • Candidates can choose “Retain and Wait” on the same offer (same institute and same program) only twice.

Reject and Wait:

  •  if a candidate selects 'Reject & Wait' it means he/she is not willing to accept the available offer, and he/she wants to be considered for upgrading to higher preferences.
  • Candidates must be aware that the same offer will not appear in the subsequent rounds as they have rejected this offer.

Candidates can refer to below given flow chart for more clarity about the COAP 2024 offer selection & counseling process:

COAP 2024 : Flow chart for round of offers

Candidates should be aware of the fact that some participating Institutes may skip, some offer release window(s), and offers may be released in any of subsequent window(s). Further, some institutes may operate additional rounds, participating Institutes don't need to have the same number of rounds as COAP 2024.
